Nissan 370Z will be a Porsche Cayman rival

The Los Angeles Auto Show will be a big event again this year, as many carmakers have model reveals planned. None are more central to the carmaker's brand image than the upcoming Z-car launch expected from Nissan in the form of the all-new 370Z.

The latest reports indicate that the company is eying the Porsche Cayman with its new sleeker design and up-rated power, just as its bigger brother the GT-R has taken on the 911 Turbo.

it looks like nissan is serously on the heels of porsche. i know star would hate this but the fact is, that is nissan's aim.

Can't wait for the new coupe from everyone. It'll be a good fight between Z370 and S3000, both of which should leave NA Z4 and TT in dust.

I'm glad NISSAN addresses transitional response, which is the only weakness in my G. They'll probably keep soft top for NISSAN and hard top for INIFNITI version.

I applaud Nissan and Infiniti for continuing to strive to bring us driver's cars, looks like they're in full swing and will continue this trend. Call me crazy but some of the rendering I've seen of the new Z, it looks similar to a Porsche 928, I guess if Porsche won't bring back 928 Nissan will :)

$33000 nicely equipped versus $63000 bare for the Cayman.

First of all, the 370Z needs to be a lot lighter than 200 lbs to beat the Cayman 2900lbs curb weight. In addition, the Cayman can be had for less then $50,000, NOT $63,000. And the Cayman is a mid-engine car, not front-load over an axle Nissan. And finally, the Cayman is a Porsche.

Come on people! These are two completely different cars. You are comparing apples to oranges.

The 350 was a cool car... but for whatever reason was never my style. If I was shopping for a $35-50k car, I would def test drive it, but it looks to big and bulky and the performance specs aren't that impressive. If they can drop the performance times and make the car look and feel less bulky, they have a winner.

The current 350Z kicks the Cayman's ass with its 306 hps, now imagine what the 370Z does to it when it comes out with 330+ hps? The Cayman is history, just TOOOO much for what it offers.
