Lamborghini to go hybrid with production Estoque

Lamborghini is making headlines with its new four-door Estoque and here it is in ‘real life’ - live from the 2008 Paris Motor Show. So what exactly does Lamborghini have up its sleeve? Let’s take a look at the market first. Porsche will be coming out with the four-door Panamera Gran Turismo next year. It will offer a range of V8 and V10 engines along with a hybrid model in 2010. Aston Martin will also enter the four-door market with the Rapide in mid-2009 - with no hybrid models planned.

So it only made sense for Lamborghini to offer those who need room for additional storage or for those looking for a weekend away with the kids, a four-door sports car - or at least the folks in Sant’ Agata think so.

What’s going to be under the hood? After doing some digging in the press release from Lamborghini, we learned that the Estoque is capable of incorporating everything from the 560-hp V10 from the Gallardo LP 560-4 to a smaller V8. The world has come to a time of technology dependency, and like everyone knows technology grows exponentially. Mathematically speaking technology is about at e^0, which means that this is where it starts climbing faster than ever and will continue growing even faster.

Soon Gasoline engines will be extinct and new more efficient and more powerful engines will evolve. Only those that can keep up with technology will survive. With this change, I see Lamborghini lasting at least another Century or so.

it doesnt make sense but they are thinking about the future and how much gas will be they will need to compete with the market 2-3 years from now when gas is $6.00 a gallon for regular all because of BUSH retarded A$$.

You guys do realize that an electric motor is much more efficient than a combustion engine therefore, two things become true: you can achieve the same performance for less input energy or you can achieve higher performance from the same amount of input energy. I have a feeling Lambo will choose the latter.

Just look at the 0-60 times of the Tesla (with one gear no less) or the Lexus GS-h (which uses only the electric motor for initial sprints from a standing start). Electric motors can achieve bucket loads more torque than combustion engines. Even for a car this size it wouldn't be very difficult to see sub-5 or better 0-60 times using the electric motor.

It makes perfect sense if you actually take a moment to learn about the physics underpinning the decision.
