Ferrari CEO says that it will not do a four-door sedan

After seeing Porsche with the Panamera, Aston Martin with the Rapide and now Lamborghini with the Estoque, you would think that Ferrari is next in line to add a four-door sedan to its lineup. However, according to Ferrari President Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, don’t expect four-doors out of Maranello anytime soon - or at least as long as Montezemolo is around.

“I have been president of this company for nearly twenty years, and I hope to continue for another twenty, and as long as that is so, Ferrari will not make a four-door sedan,” said at the 2008 Paris Motor Show.

He also said they ABSOLUTELY WERE NOT developing a smaller, more entry-level car. And it ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT be named California. Take that to the bank!

In this case, though, I think (or hope) he was speaking from his heart, not as a bluff.

There are few people, and even fewer companies around that still understand the experience that only a pure sports car gives. No matter what 0-60, lateral G's, or even 'ring times the super-duper 4,000 lb sport sedans are generating, there is no substitute for a 2-seaters dedicated to the joy of driving. Ferrari gets that.

lol...I don't recall him saying that, but I don't think Ferrari should completely take themselves out of the 4 door market...they should see it as another challenge to win, I never thought I would see a 4 door lambo and now look it isn't that bad and everday I look at it the car gets sexier and sexier...you never know in 10 years there might be a Lambo and Ferrari SUV =x

I hope that Ferrari doesn't cave in to the trend and do a 4 door, but if they did... that photoshop would be a great place to start. That would be a great looking car.

Ferrari already built 4 door station wagons on the basis of the 456GT, under the special project codenamed "Venezia".

The car was almost as ugly as a Panamera. As Dvice put it mildly, "Ferrari station wagon is a crime against cars". I can only hope Luca stays true to his words.

I consider the Maserati Quattroporte their 4-door, just my opinion though.

The Quattroporte is the closest thing to a 4 door Ferrari hence the Ferrari power plant.
