TOP STORY-AUTOSPIES WORLD EXCLUSIVE: Classified details on a future Porsche

Over the past few years with the advent of cars like the BMW M5, Mercedes-Benz E55 and others, a lucrative new super sedan market was created and is flourishing.

Well, in the words of Cadillac's latest ads, if Porsche has their way with the new Panamera (4-door Porsche sedan), party’s over!

While all the other media outlets scurry around repackaging the Reuters press release (that didn’t mention WE broke the story on this over a year and a half ago)and taking credit for the info, we have even more info to dial you in to.

Look for three versions of the car…Panamera S and Turbo at launch, GT (further down the line)




If the new line is successful (we predict it will be), maybe even a two door coupe and two door convertible (Continental killer) later down the line.

This car line has the potential to be one of the most exciting products to come along in a long time!

I our opinion, this product line makes way more sense than the Cayenne did.

Our advice to Porsche…

You have a special opportunity to topple a monopoly that BMW and MB have worked on a long time to cultivate.

Even though we know many things will come from the Cayenne, PLEASE don't make the Boxster/911 mistake. Differentiate the Panamera to have its own design identity, inside and out!

Now THAT'S pretty. Really pretty! 001's recommendations to Porsche are spot on. Assuming high build quality and relatively low initial defects and subsequent failures, this could be a history-making car, and not just for Porsche.

My hope is that the two-door, four place convertible becomes a reality to capture some of those BMW enthusiasts who waited for the 6 series cabriolet with baited breath, and who were disappointed when it finally appeared.

Additional notes to Porsche (with respect to 4 place cabriolet):
- Don't make it a gadget laden (leave that to BMW who seem to be leaders in this arena)
- Give it somewhat usable rear seats. Not the 911's placebo seats, or the BMW 6's "for children only" fare.
- Make it sporty (obviously), but also make it luxurious enough to woo those MB CLK55 AMG folks.

Go Porsche! Do it!

With only one picture to work off of, does anyone else see any "possible" similarities between the early names Panamera and a Quatrroporte?

I can see the cover of car magazines world wide...the new challange. BMW, MB, and Porsche now head to head with their top four door sedans.

i think porsche shud go ahead with building this...it looks fabolous and a word that shud not be used to describe a porsche can be used...it looks gorgeous :S...this car would easily match the level of the ferrari 612.
