Audi UK Bucks The Trend With September Sales Increase

Audi UK has recorded a sales increase for the key month of September, defying the trend in a depressed market that contracted by 24 per cent compared with the same period in 2007.

The brand ended the month with 16,457 UK sales, a relatively modest 1 per cent increase on the 16,293 sales recorded in 2007, but a significant achievement in the context of a declining market in which gains were exceptionally scarce.

Director of Audi UK Jeremy Hicks was buoyed by the result, but remained cautiously optimistic: “I’m obviously delighted and greatly encouraged by our achievement against the odds. My belief that great new models like the A3 Cabriolet and TT TDI would sustain our performance in September thankfully wasn’t unfounded, but I’m under no illusion that we are in a very tough market. The next 12 to 18 months is undoubtedly going to be challenging, but a very fresh and fast expanding range is proving a distinct advantage to us in these turbulent times.”

Audi UK has broadened its line-up from 12 models in 1998 to a total of 27 in 2008. Five new additions, some taking Audi into new market territory, and extensive updates of the existing fleet, are set to bolster the range in 2009.

Audi UK has enjoyed an exceptionally rapid rise to prominence in the premium sector. Since 2000, when just over 43,000 Audi models found homes in the UK, the brand has consistently broken its annual sales records year-on-year, and in 2007 successfully passed the milestone 100,000 sales barrier. It is continuing to perform exceptionally well in a declining market by extending its reach into important new segments with strong offerings such as the A3 Cabriolet, A5, RS 6, Q7 and R8, and by consolidating its presence in its traditional heartland with core models like the all-new A4 and A4 Avant.

Yes the thing is though they are gradually improving each car so its a transition rather than an all new kind of thing. So you still know what it is its just that that model is a solid improvement than the last. Also the fact that they have a good range of cars as well.

Hey Amazing, I think I just decided to set the record straight. You need to pull the Haterade IV out on Audi and READ just a little! You have alot to say and I'm gonna probably piss you off and edjumacate you all at once. I'm starting with a video since you seem to have fear of facts. It's Audi that performs so well that they either get banned, penalized or not invited back. That didn't happen to BMV
I can't figure out why such a vocal person is afraid of the truth. Some of this was even on Autospies. I guess you couldn't see it through the propeller on yourforehead. huh.http://www.kewego.com/video/iLyROoaft-Qr.html

This is just a starter for you if you need more I got it. Note that all this winning over BMW & MB was done with a heavier car..which had weight added after each win. BMW & MB pleaded that it Quattro was unfair. It must sting for a nose heavy, overweight car to win 7 championships in 1 year 1996. Just a few facts..

Amazinretard. Wow, cannot spell, cannot understand basic facts, cannot appreciate that BMW is outsold by Audi in the UK. Cannot understand that VW and Audi are not the same (like Lamborghini and Bentley are not Audi or VW) Repeats the same crap like a broken record. Summary... Amazin is totally stupid and contributes zero to this website.

the only thing getting plowed is your bank account.

Gee I wonder why when sales figures are released for MB, BMW or Audi, the other two brands are always included???

I agree the standard Audi were always nose heavy but the quattro is a whole different animal. '09 a4/a5 have much better weight distribution something like 54/46 and with quattro's torque split of 40front/60rear, it is just as capable as BMW in the handling department. Actually, probably will handle better since it will have more grip on the corners. And when the roads get slippery, quattro is a much more mature then the faux awd that is the BMW xi, although BMW x-drive is an improvement.

and you BMW fanatics must blind, cause when I step into an Audi I consider it a premium car, no question, but when I step into a BMW with those cheap looking 80's interior and cheap looking leather/leatherette seats, it's furthest from what I'd call premium. BMW is a level down from Audi.

You are still such a douche is unbelievable. Here's some intelligent responses to your expectantly stupid comments.

- Have to offer Quattro becuase without it it's a FWD? You're still the only loser who believes quality is determined only by what wheels drive the car.

- With the exception of Indy, BMW can't touch the level of racing achievement realized by Audi. They dominate LeMans and their road cars benefit from their racing technology - quattro, diesel, DFI, for example. How much open-wheel racing tech can be brought to production cars, retard?

- You would have to be an idiot to think the A3 is supposed to be competitive with the 1 series. 4 door hatch vs 2 door coupe /conv't. Really?

- The new A4 blows away the 328xi in every aspect. I'll admit the last one didn't, but this one does. Deal with it. Admittedly there isn't a real competitor for the 335, but the S4 is right around the corner and will absolutely compete performance-wise and win hands down on design.

- BMW doesn't build a direct competitor for the A5 / S5. Close, but not direct.

- The A6 outsells the 5 series significantly in Europe, and that doesn't count China

- The A8 and Phaeton don't share platforms dumbass. They aren't any more the same car than a 335 coupe and a 645. Oh and the new 7 series will "blow away" the 4+ YEAR OLD A8?!? You're maybe right, and it damn well should. It's only fair since the A8 blew away the 7 series when it came out in 04.

- X5 is better than the Q7? At what? That's a pretty generic statement. Didn't you know they have a diesel Q7 coming out shortly, stupid? Where's the diesel X5?

- BMW doesn't have an answer for the A3 or the R8. What about the Q5 coming out soon? There's you X3 competition

- RS cars consistently embarrass your M cars and give you more car for your money. RS4 pounded the last M3. You had to get a CSL to beat it and you then had a more expensive car that sucked to drive anywhere but a race track. That's a hell of a gimmick...

- the new S4 will be on par with the 335i if not superior and the S5 already beats it up. There's no S car (or regular Audi) comparison for the 135, dumbass, and the S6 is consistently rated higher than the M5, nevermind the 550i, and that's not even considering the RS5 and RS6.

RR is "better" than Bentley? How?

Nothing you say has any factual basis, ever.

"Schmuckaroo"? Who says that?

You still can't spell "plebeian" even though it's clearly your favorite word.

loooooooossssseeeeerrrrrrr......

You have no idea what the British market if you think it's only the A4 that can be cross-shopped with the Mondeo. The 3 Series is hardly a "prestige" sedan there. It, the C-Class and the A4 are cross-shopped with high-level (and not so high-level) Mondeos all the time.

The X5 3.0d is coming to the US at the end of the year.

Also--perhaps you didn't know--the 1 Series is available as an A3-style hatch in Europe. The coupe and convertible came out two or three years later. Otherwise, I agree with you.

The A3 platform is dynamicly far superior than the lardish 1-series platform. Heck in European tests the 135i posts the same times around the track as the S3, and seeing as the S3 only has 265hp i'd say thats quite emberrasing for BMW.

I'm not an Audi fanboy by any stretch. I appreciate the different offerings in each segment from each manufacturer, and give respect where respect is due. In my opinion, Audi isn't king of the hill in every segment, but they are in some. For me (BMW vs Audi):

335xi coupe > A5 or S4
M3 > S4
S5 > M3
A4 2.0t > 328xi
535 > A6
S6 > M5
X5 > Q7
A8 > 7 series

There's give and take, they both build amazing cars, but if forced to choose, sometimes the choice is difficult. The S5 vs the M3 for example would be like 51% S5 and 49% M3. I would give up the handling prowess and raw speed of the M3 for the GT qualities of the S5, but that's just me. 535xi vs A6 would be like 75% 535xi vs 25% A6.

I respect what you're saying. I'm aware the 1 series is available as a hatch overseas, I suppose I was referring to the US market in general, though maybe I was inconsistent referencing A6 sales in Europe.

As far as RWD being more fun and the primarly drive configuration for sports cars, I couldn't agree more. the point I was making is that Amazin constantly equates FWD configuration with a low-quality car, meaning that the car is a POS simply because its front wheel drive, and of course that's not true. RWD means better handling, not inherent higher quality.

The people who always shout the loudest about themselves are always the opposite of their pronouncements. Somebody has a major inferiority complex and needs a lot of time with a shrink.

You would think somebody with an education would see that AWD is superior to RWD in almost all situations, that is why they banned it from F1 and why it dominated rallying for years.

You have to have your head stuck up your own arse to be that stupid.

Hey AmazinRetard,

Looks like you didn't get the memo either, since awd went to LAMBORGHINI, AUDI, BENTLEY, BUGATTI, Th GT-R, ect ect ect.

"boy, vw has it figured out!!"

Hey Amazin,
Check out who's sales are falling...

Retardaroo! Lambo and Bentley use AWD. Again, you are clueless to the facts. The AWD they use are from Audi by the way as ist the V10 used by Lambo and the W12TT used by Bentley. Who do you think does the technology transfer to those brands? Audi! Why do you think Porsche wants VAG? Audi! They want the AWD technology for one not to mention Audi's engines and diesel technology. Audi gets nothing from Porsche.

And yes check whose sales are falling....

As for racing pedigree, again amazingretardaroo, check your facts. Audi has a long standing racing pedigree all the way back to 1909 or even then winning the major races of that day like the famous Alpine runs, etc all the way up today. When was the last time BMW won anything worth mentioning?

Yes, BMW has a strong racing tradition, but don't spout BS that is greater than Audi. In the 30s, it was Auto Union (Audi) and MB...that's it! And that is what you call legendary.

How much money do you actually earn? Cannot be that much is your lease is only $1200.00 on a pathetic 750Li that BMW gives away. Try leasing an A8 or S-Class and then talk money, not wannabe.

New 750Li? Wow, how impressive. Isn't there like a $15,000 dollar discount on those things. They can't move them off the lots. A poor man's luxury car - fits you perfectly! Keep on pretending. Plus your are leasing. When you purchase an A8L W12 with cash then you have something to say, otherwise go on stealing other people's money to think that makes your rich. What a sorry ass you are and the funny thing is you're too stupid to know it. Remember, no one is laughing with you, but AT you! Now that's funny.

And also, for a so-called money expert (doubtful at best!) you are buying a 7-Series with cash. Wow! Now that is smart. You could do just as good by throwing the money in your fireplace (oh yeah, caves don't have them, I mean your camp fire) and burn it. The return it the same. What a chump. As soon as you drive off the lot, the 7-Series will take a dump.

Don't get me started on how poor amazinBimmer is. I wipe my ass with the amount of money he makes in a year.

Plus look at Audi's A6 outselling BMW's 5-series and MB's E-cass worldwide.

Gee, it must suck to not have enough money to buy your car when you walk into the dealership. That explains why amazinBimmer leases his so-called 750Li.

You dumbass amazinMoron. What happened? You didn't have $100K lying around for your 7-series? I forgot, you are just like all the othe BMW fanatics who are so image conscious that they will lease cars because they don't have the cash on hand to buy the car on the spot. FATTEN YOUR WALLET IDIOT!

Obviously not because you must keep paying your shitty lease payments that can't even compare to the expensive and unreachable lease payments of Audi's A8 and MB's S-class.

IDIOT!!!!!
