The ‘M’ bike

Bike looks great. I trust bmw will have a good showing with this but it will be a first effort sort of like the is-f did with lexus. Can they compete in the liter bike class we shall see but why couldnt they. 1000 cc double rr does make your mouth water though. fyi I have an 07 zx10r and i cant see a bike being more powerful in that class.

almost forgot probably going to be pretty expensive and bikes are bang for the buck. are you going to pay 30k to have a bmw bike when the zx10r and r1 are 11k and you get nothing more from it but name. Bike riders are smarter then car drivers in this respect.

Finally some competetion for Ducati

Ducati has had their hands full with Yamaha, Honda and Suzuki. This will unlike Aprilia probably have a hard time in it's first year, eventhough they have 2 excellent riders with Xaus and Corser.

Forget about BMW coz the Honda Fireblade, Ducati and Suzuki will kick their arse!!!

I think BMW has a great market where they are with their bikes. No need to break into a class with so much competition. BMW already makes the worlds best sport touring bikes, and I love them for it and own several. Why spend the time and money to squeeze into such a crowded market?

ZX-14 a touring bike? What are you, nuts? I think you have a whole different idea of what touring is than I have.

The BMW K1200GT is a sport touring bike, the Honda ST1300 is a sport touring bike. Any sentence with the word "Ninja" and "touring" in it is guaranteed to have an oxymoron somewhere in it somewhere.

I'm going to say a sport-touring bike puts emphasis on a longer wheel base for high speed stability and has higher handlebars, set back from the fork for a more upright riding style. Also, I would claim sport-touring bikes dont usually come chain driven because of required chain maintenance. Shaft driven is more dependable and requires little to no maintenance.

If you look at a bike like the ZX-14 with a 57.5" wheel base compared to the likes of a K1200S (what I would consider a super-sport touring rather than sport-touring) of 61.8", that's a HUGE difference. The K1200S is going to be much more planted during high speed sweeping corners and run a lot straighter during WOT. The downside of course is it's not as easy to change direction.

Lest we forget that touring bikes (especially BMW's) usually come with goodies like ABS, traction control, electronic dampening, heated grips (if you've ever had them, you'll never want to go without them again) and saddle bags. All with 167HP in the K1200S's case.

The K1300S/R/GT are coming...bringing more displacement and horsepower.

Cant wait! 180HP in a BMW! I remember when the K12RT came out and everyone was in shock that it had 130HP. Now that's not enough to get consumers to the showroom.

meanvulcan...proof BMW dosnt run from the comp. they look for it. Just like in Formula one the most competitive of motor sport. Audi and IRL hahaha. why don't they go to F1?

Because it costs a Team about 300 Million € a year.
Thats why Porsche doesn't want to revival it's Formel 1 efforts

Who are they kidding, 20 years ??
Don't bet on them not having tonnes of Yamahas, Ducatis, Hondas, Suzukis, Kawasaki etc. in their workshop, all broken down and thoroughly analsed. I think more like a few years nehind. Yje latest sports parts from these manufacturers they won't have access to unless they could develop them themselves.

And BMW has alot of money and engineering knowledge which are also points when it comes to competition
