Mitsubishi working on a 400-hp Lancer Evo X

Just when you thought the new Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X couldn’t get any better, Mitsubishi has approved plans to build a new range-topping model called the FQ400. Joining the FQ300 and the FQ360, the FQ400 will go on sale next year.

Inspiration came from the recent 400-hp Mitsubishi Racing Lancer Evo X that took part in the Britcar 24-hour race. The Racing Lancer Evo X finished 5th in its class and 25th overall.

are you freaking kidding me?! i mean when these things were in the 30k range...yeh it was ok. But 70k+ for a mitsubishi?!? i have plenty of reasons to go buy a slightly used m3,m5, slightly used m6, c63 amg...the list can go on. Why the hell would someone in their sane mind pay 70 grand for this boggles my mind. Wait, they can always use it in another fast and the furious movie right? haha

i correct myself, i can get some of the cars mentioned cars above brand new for less than 70k at a bunch of dealerships i know.

You also need to realize that this is sold in UK and the conversion from pounds to USD doesn't work like that. A VW gti will cost more over there than the one sold here for $23k.

that maybe Htay7500, and i've driven an 07 evo IX MR a bunch of times before...these cars are for a different type of crowd...like you said, it'll make a good fun on the snow/dirt car. You know these cars were originally rally cars..and honestly in my opinion, that makes em impractical for daily driving. So if your buying it for just the track, and or racing fast and the furious wannabe's (no offense) lol, then yeh then its a good car. Cause when i feel like cruising down highway 59, i dont wanna hear a loud exhaust blaring out loud the whole ride.

I don't either, and it is a good car for the track or rally, but in the area, I rarely see people use the evo MR ever used in rallycross.

All these super-/turbo-charging really confuses me with the whole idea of power.

Turbo drag has already been demonstrated on one of the FQ Evo on Top Gear, and that's no good...unfair advertising, don't you guys think so?

Mitsubishi definitely have the racing heritage to back it up but dawn $80k, that is a lot of money. I think I will get a lexus IS-F, M3, Audi RS4, or the new Cadillac CTS-V.

Isn't FQ360 manufacture claim of 0-60 was 3.7 seconds? and magaiznes got even better numbers, better than Gallardo, F430. I think it even raced murceilago in some magazine.

So FQ400 will only be better, much much faster than C63, M3..etc, AWD and much more exclusive. can't wait to see.

So at what point are they going to make cars that are functional. The Galant is a POS, nobody is buying the Eclipse, and there SUV market is dwindling. But yet they continue to pump money into the Lancer?? How about they build some other cars in their lineup to actually help make money.

EVO X needs 400 hp on the base version. With the BMW 135i running circles around it and econoboxes like Cobalt SS matching Evo's performance for a lot less money there is not much left for Mitsubishi to do(if they want to stay in business)other than increase the power of the weak Evo X while decreasing the selling price. In the current state the Evo is a joke.

Cobalt SS might matched Evo's time but Evo did manage
to beat 135i!!!

Btw, if you look at the result sector times (w/o the
straight line part of the course), you'll see that EvoX
almost always beats 135i (and Cobalt SS).

The fact is that Evo gained too much weight from the
prev version... Adding too much BS refinement to please
this American market.

for the hell of it Chevy sould build a 400hp Cobalt for $50k just to slap the evo in the face
