Busted tranny of Nissan R35 GTR already?

yeah but if people are ruining the car in such a short time, because of using the feature, what about its longevity over years...which is what a car should be built for. It sounds like its not very durable at all, they should warning labels in it saying you have this feature but please dont use it

this is really not a good sign...I really have high hopes of buying this car but it seems like the transmission of the car seems unpredictable

Looks like an awful steep angle on the gear tooth cut for a high powered car . This is done in order for a more quite operation while giving up some durabilty . GM used a 4 speed Borg Warner super T 10 "rock crusher " , a nickname that they were given because of the noisy operation .These trannys were used in the early 70' that GM put behind some of their biggest engines These trannys used a much less of an tooth angle cut than they used in their lesser engines . This would give a tooth contact of one and one half while in operation . For a comparison a staight cut gear would be two teeth in constant contact during operation . The noise of this set up would be unbearable . Hence the name, rock crusher. Chrysler used a similar tranny in the high output cars also. These companys knew that these types of cars were going to get pounded and it not want to replace the tranny under warranty If Nissan would have gone to a 30 degree cut on the gears instead of a 45 degree cut and a bit thicker gear , they might have saved some embarassment , at least in the lower reduction gears

The GM Rockcrusher was not a Borg Warner product it was the Muncie M22, nick named "The Rock Crusher" because the gears were more straight cut instead of helical for strength but when they mesh together it sounded like you were crushing rocks between them!

That's why you see most transmissions with helical (angled) gears mainly to make the operation of the trans quieter!

Here's the problem... why build a car that you could turn off the controls and use the launch controls, but say don't use it too much?

I hope this is not another launch control problem, because its really putting a chink in this car's reputation.

Does it really matter when your doing 0-60 faster than a Porsche 911 turbo?...and lapping the ring faster than said car as well? For almost $50,000 grand less than a 911 Turbo why complain about $10,000+ transmission? So what Nissan forgot to mention a few things...the real problem is...the customer never thought to ask!

Sad i will never buy a nissan nor bmw because of this!

Nissans Godzilla has been defeated due to no warranty coverage on the busted tranny. Bad Nissan...Bad!
