Spied: Audi S5 Convertible

These images show the 2010 Audi S5 convertible during a sunrise photo shoot. The Audi is wearing what seems to be a Ibis White exterior finish and this brochure-ready convertible two door will have the same mechanicals as the current S5 coupe.

Nice!! Very little camo. Darn near production shots. My choices for a new car next summer just grew. They now include Audi S5 convertible (probably won't even be released until late 09 as a 10 but those pics looks like it could be ready tomorrow), BMW 335i Conv, BMW M3 Coupe, Infiniti G37 conv, Infiniti G37x coupe.

My used car choices for next year would be a 06 or 07 BMW M6 coupe.

With as many potholes and road deformities as there are in the burbs of NYC, you might as well get a junker.

Unless you do a lot of travelling outside of NYC, all you'd be doing is wasting your money, and drawing way too much attention to yourself.

---isn't that why people buy BMW's? To get more attention?

"My used car choices for next year would be a 06 or 07 BMW M6 coupe."

I wouldn't. Unless you're ready for a car that is no faster than an M3, has less interior space than an M3, is less fun to drive than an M3, is more expensive than an M3 even used, is less reliable than an M3 and gets pitiful gas mileage, don't get an M6.

In case you can't tell, the M3 has obsoleted it. If you want a V10 get a used M5 instead--at least it has the sedan factor.

how has a car in a complete different class obseleted the M6 thats rediculous did the C63 obselete the S63 AMG no.....no did the CLK63 and the CL63....find some logic....in addition if your talking poor fuel economy explain why the 600hp ZR1 gets the same gas mileage as Audis attempt at beating the 335i the S5, or for that matter even the 550hp CTS-V and only 3mpg better than the much more powerful M6.....i think its the S5 which is obsolete

You idiot, I'm just making sure he doesn't make a poor decision. I'm POINTING him towards other BMWs! This has NOTHING to do with Audi. The M6 has less interior space than an M3 even though it's way bigger and heavier on the outside. It's not faster either. It's just really expensive and really big. Not a real BMW sports car, IMO.

The S63 vs. C63

your the idiot S4 as usual you have flawed logic.......comparing an M6 to a M3 there not even the same type of car......the M3 also has more rear leg room than a CL63 and is faster does that also make it an alternative..........

AMAZINGBUMMER

I am deeply sadden by your multiple postings and I can not fathom that anybody could keep posting such blatantly ignorant comments.
I can see only a few possibilities to such postings;
1- you are between the age of 12 and 16 years old and you know absolutely nothing about cars.
2- you are playing the devil advocate and purposely post the most radical comments you can come up with in order to create flame wars and outrage.
3- you really believe in BMW superiority and in this case I am really sorry for you, because such ignorance and arrogance are beyond any comprehension.
4- you might suffer from some brain damage or genetic disorder and therefore I am, and we all will be sorry for you and forgive your constantly ridiculous comments.

I wish you well, I apologize if you had to refer to the dictionary while reading my comment, as I noticed quite often that grammar and vocabulary were not your forte.

I do respect BMW as a brand and as a product, they do seem to have lost their edge and it is clear that "accounting" and "marketing" have a lot to say in how the product is being built.
Life is about making the right compromises, and if you are knowledgeable, educated and with the means, which vehicle is going to fit those compromises is for each their own. But to pompously push your favorite brand like you do is a little to much for this site sometimes.

If it is a game to you, there is something disturbing to how you envision your social interaction with other through the internet.
Maybe therapy is something you might consider.

If you have half of an understanding of what you are doing when you post a comment and read the answers to it, you should have had your laugh a long time ago and give it a rest.

So no matter who you are, and what are your purposes, please get a life, get a grip, get a BMW, get a hobby, put please for the sake of this website, even if you are an agent in disguise, STOP, before all the real cars enthusiasts and connoisseur leave for good.

Be well.

The A5 and S5 Cabriolets are replacing the A4 and S4 Cabriolets, yes.

I can't wait until the S5 gets the supercharged V6 from the S4. It will smack the 335i all day long. Oh wait.....it ALREADY does.

Audi S5 has been clocked at 0-60 in 4.5 seconds whereas the 335i's best time is 4.7 seconds.

The photos are kinda crummy, so I'll reserve judgement until some better shots are released. But the coupe is fantastic looking, so hopefully the top looks as good or similar to the coupe. I just don't get why Audi produces so few of these and they are hard to come by. I mean, it's nice that it's exclusive in a way, but it's a mid-level audi! I rarely see them in Chicago but when I do they always look even better than pictures and the V8 sounds great too.

The "establishment" is rapidly opening room for a new member. In case you haven't noticed idiot, Audi is on the verge of reaching a sales record for the 13th straight year. The model range will increase to 40 by 2015.

Quality is soaring as witnessed by J.D. Power & Associates and profitability is going to surpass BMW by 2010.

Audi is already in the same league and in many cases better.

Why don't you understand that Audi owners are wealthier than their BMW counterparts and spend less on their cars. That is why Audi owners can afford to buy their cars up front but BMW owners like you must make monthly lease payments because you don't have $90K lying around for your 7-series.

Remember, once you are a BMW driver you are labelled right alongside the dumb blonde administrative assistants that so vividly represent the classic 3-series image.

There is no denying it amazinBimmer, Audi is hot on MB's and BMW's tail. Profits are soaring, sales have increased every year for the past 13 years, quality is making incredible improvements AND Audi owners have more money than BMW owners.

C'mon you know what's coming idiot, why blind yourself from the truth.

benzo shouldn't be concerned but bimmers should. mb will always be the best of luxury cars and audi will be known for their simple but classy styling with interior quality and bimmer will continue to bring boring styling. the rich arent buying bmw for luxury but for the sportiness. audis quattro along with good engines will bring best of both worlds since their interiors are so top notch already.

The S5 Cabriolet looks beautiful. Love the lines, and the proportions. I am really so happy that they are sticking with the soft top.

S4cabriofoxoneS4cabriofoxone - 10/20/2008 10:38:42 PM

-Better looks (three-piece hardtops, which would be a requirement on a midsized four-seater like this, are ugly as sin and would destroy the S5's immaculate design)
-Less weight = better performance & fuel economy
-More trunk space
-Quicker operation
-Less complicated (less parts that can fail)

And a soft top, in this day and age, is so well-designed that it offers just about all of the insulation of a hard top. Take it from someone who has an S4 convertible. I am happy to drive my car through the Chicago winter. So, effectually, the only advantage of a hardtop is novelty, which wears off quickly.

BTW... do you know how much a lightweight hardtop would cost? A lot. Enough to put the A5/S5 Cabriolets in another price class.

best looking coupe on the market today goes to the
s5
then comes the 335ci

conv
definetly the 335 as the s5 will loose the arch's (side profile)on the window which makes the car so darn pretty to look at

But the 335 convertible is very ugly with the top up. Lovely with the top down, but so is the S5 Cabriolet.
