Aston Martin Rapide to cost $400,000

After departing its way with FoMoCo, Aston Martin has seen the introduction of the new exclusive One-77, completion of the four-door Rapide and the resurrection of the Lagonda brand. With Aston Martin on its side Prodrive has become a serious player in the sports car and racing world.

That $2 million Aston Martin One-77 will enter production late next year. Only 77 units will be made, all of which have been accounted for. Power will come from a 700-hp 7.3L V12.

Aston Martin is for sure one of the forward thinking companies at this time. How unique the Rapide, ONE-77 and now uplining the Lagonda line to possibly compete with Bentley. Brilliant. Love this company and you aspire to own one of the vehicles.

It's crazy how well Aston Martin seems to be doing after leaving from under the dark cloud of Ford.

At the same time, it's a bit disappointing to know that if Ford or GM purchased a supercar or ultra-luxury brand, it wouldn't be long before their timeless designs are watered-down and performance becomes a distant option rarely selected because the components they share with either Buick or Mercury doesn't quite interest the buying consumer anymore. And then the brand would be near death when a private investor/company or another luxury automaker steps in to buy the damaged brand for pennies at a GM/Ford yard sales.

Agreed, Sailor. I see the Euro-spec models that GM & Ford release feel like the unloved stepchild that never gets to have fun. If they had been really serious (early on) about revamping their lineups with more product from Europe, Americans would've eventually been OK with it. No we see Europe & Chinese models that could do well in the US.
