Aston Martin planning to rival Ferrari with new models

Aston Martin is already one of the most bespoke and prestigious labels on the planet but the company is seriously considering positioning its next-generation models further upmarket to make way for the relaunch of Lagonda.

Earlier this month CEO Dr. Ulrich Bez revealed plans to resurrect the Lagonda marque in order to preserve the Aston Martin name for the company’s sports cars and use Lagonda for models with a completely different character, such as a high-end crossover or large premium saloon.

The new Aston's are absolutely beautiful cars. Driving one, I would feel like James Bond (especially if it was British racing green and I was wearing my tux). However, if I was going to put down $200k+ of my own money for a supercar, I would have to go with the Ferrari (the pinnacle of sports cars in my opinion).

no Ferraris depreciate like any other "car", only certain Ferraris appreciate or any car for that matter s tehy are depreciating assets, and that is no different with Aston's and there is no guarantee they will appreciate....flawed logic at best

Here is the deal. If you get a brand new Ferrari and drive it for only a few thousand miles, let's say no more than 5K, and keep it for a year, you will be able to resale it for what you paid for or slightly more. There is a long list ahead of someone who never bought a Ferrari. Now if you get a limited edition Ferrari like the Enzo or the Scuderia, you will get more money than what you paid for it. Older Ferrari's (like the 360, 355,even 430) depreciate like but not really like other car. A 360 with 2000 miles on it will still ask for a nice price. What keeps resale value up there for Ferrari is of course the fact that they don't make a lot of them but also the way dealers do business. You'll have to get causy with your ferrari dealer before you magically are on the list and are able to build your car from the option list. Basicly you'll have to buy several used Ferrari's before being on that list.

The Aston brand should stay right where it is -- an exclusive alternative to Ferrari F430s, Lambo Gallardos and Porsche 911 Turbos. Bring on the Rapide, but leave Lagonda in its grave.

If I want class i'll go with an Aston. If I want a focused super car i'll go with a Ferrari. If I want all out wildness and fun i'll go with a Lamborghini.
