Video: Motor Trend takes the Corvette ZR1 from 0-60 in 3.3 secs
Motor Trend recently hit up the hot Arizona desert to test the most powerful GM car ever built - the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1.

Testing the 638-hp 6.2L V8 at Chrysler’s Proving Grounds, Motor Trend hit 0 to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds (CARandDRIVER recently reported 3.4 seconds). Comparing that to its rival, the Dodge Viper SRT-10 does 0 to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds. The guys also reported a quarter-mile run in 11.2 seconds at 130.5 mph - currently the Viper is doing 124.4 mph).

Check out Motor Trend’s complete review of the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 here.

You could do 0-60 in 3.3 a hundred times without having to worry about voiding your warranty! Qtr mile in 11.2?!?...without the aid of all wheel drive?!? Considering that most "you know who" dealers are asking $30,000 premiums on "you know what car"...I'd say this is a performance bargain.

Not even close as that car will still have the markups.

These are great numbers, but i would have thought for them to be a little faster, perhaps sub 3 0-60, Qtr mile in perhaps the low 10s (I thought that C&D tested the Z06 0-60 in 3.3 no?)

In either case, great numbers.

"but i would have thought for them to be a little faster, perhaps sub 3 0-60"...

It's just physics. Too much power overwhelms the tires ability to maintain traction. Unless you are really good with a manual and can launch a car in a way that the limits of tire adhesion are at the brink while maintaining maximum acceleration you probably won't get much better 0-60 times. But then isn't that part of the fun of driving a car like this...instead of having the car do it for you? (I better stop...I'll probably get deboosted for speaking out against "The One")

haha, i know what you mean. But yes, i agree, but i just think that it could have been a little faster, especially in C&D's test.

Rediculous numbers. For a car not to have drag slicks and post a 130 mph trap speed is unbelieveable, not to mention a 97 ft 60-0 stop, wow. Just a little perspective, I read one quarter mile time of the Veyron at 10.9.

Zr1 205 top speed, veyron 253mph top speed

Veyron, thanks for the obvious, what's that got to do with 1/4 mile times? In no way does the ZR1 challenge the legendary Veyron, I was simply trying to put into perspective for Thierry, how good the ZR1's 1/4 mile time is.

Very impressive! And it still has a warranty after all that acceleration. lol

golfer stated a 97 ft 60-0 stop. A Vette with ceramic brakes and rotors the size of dinner plates makes a difference I tell ya. All good, just get that interior up to the level of performance, and Chevy will have a true world class supercar!

Who cares about the interior when you can whip on anyone you show up next too.

I never get tired of watching Z06 videos where they take out Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc. Now they have an untouchable with the ZR1.

And let's also not forget that the Viper uses a V10 to get those numbers, the Vette does it with a V8.

Coulda had a V8!!

The 130+ MPH 1/4 mile speed says that with some drag slicks it has 10 second potential, easy!
