I saw a new A5 today in my neighborhood and I was really struck by its beauty and presence. Im a die hard BMW fan but let me tell you, this car was stunning! It really makes the 335i coupe look boring. I may just pop into the local Audi dealership and give this car a spin around the block and see how I feel then.

From an average consumer POV, they both feel like they handle the same. But there's clearly a gap when it comes to the horsepower. What I didn't like about the A5 was the silly oversized sunroof that just tilts open/closed, with no real shade to keep the sun out. And the seats...I know it's European and all, but the seats feel like they were made strictly for the Karen Carpenters of the world.

The Audi is handsdown the looker between the 2.

the a5 looks so good in person its scary but so is the price. loaded with the sline package is 53k so you get 328 performance for 335 price. in the mean time for the same 53 k you can get a 335i or xi take your pick depending on options xi with 18s or i with 19s come to the same price and you get better then s5 performance for the same price with better gas milage. so now the question is- is the a5 really that good or just over priced. I want the a5 in feb but my mind says no way you get so much more with the bmw. what do you think?
ps who wants the s5 v8 now that the new s4 is out with the better engine faster 27% better fuel economy and more torque really what is audi doing.

A5 Not on same level horsepower wise with 335. S5 would be your best bet for similar +/- HP. The new S5 will get the Supercharged engine (as per rumor on the net) in the S4 with subtle tuning for a little edge and probably same fuel efficiency.

I am deeply sadden by your multiple postings and I can not fathom that anybody could keep posting such blatantly ignorant comments.
I can see only a few possibilities to such postings;
1- you are between the age of 12 and 16 years old and you know absolutely nothing about cars.
2- you are playing the devil advocate and purposely post the most radical comments you can come up with in order to create flame wars and outrage.
3- you really believe in BMW superiority and in this case I am really sorry for you, because such ignorance and arrogance are beyond any comprehension.
4- you might suffer from some brain damage or genetic disorder and therefore I am, and we all will be sorry for you and forgive your constantly ridiculous comments.

I wish you well, I apologize if you had to refer to the dictionary while reading my comment, as I noticed quite often that grammar and vocabulary were not your forte.

I do respect BMW as a brand and as a product, they do seem to have lost their edge and it is clear that "accounting" and "marketing" have a lot to say in how the product is being built.
Life is about making the right compromises, and if you are knowledgeable, educated and with the means, which vehicle is going to fit those compromises is for each their own. But to pompously push your favorite brand like you do is a little to much for this site sometimes.

If it is a game to you, there is something disturbing to how you envision your social interaction with other through the internet.
Maybe therapy is something you might consider.

If you have half of an understanding of what you are doing when you post a comment and read the answers to it, you should have had your laugh a long time ago and give it a rest.

So no matter who you are, and what are your purposes, please get a life, get a grip, get a BMW, get a hobby, put please for the sake of this website, even if you are an agent in disguise, STOP, before all the real cars enthusiasts and connoisseur leave for good.

Be well.

Audi isn't tier 2.

MB, Audi, and BMW are all in the same tier, along with Jaguar.

Quit being so arrogant. What do you drive right now that puts you on a high horse? The A5's interior build is much better than your 3-series.

He has a 8 year old M5 that sits on cylinder blocks in front of his mobile home, a dumpy 2006 7-Series that's like worth nothing in today's market as 7-Series have taken a big dump, and an 528xi imitation quattro wish I was an Audi when I grow up. Oh yes, he commutes in a Saab. The Saab gets him to his job at cleaning toilets at McDonald's since his great investing strategies in the subprime market as an investment banker went south along with Lehman's. Ah yes, he earns more money than all of combined at Autospies.com and is highly educated at Hog Warts(whartons) School of Business. And according amazinggarth, we all went to community college and earn 10 times less than he does because unless you value yourself by how much money you have youu are essentially nothing. Oh, POS FWD. Had to throw that in.

The CLK 350 is slower and more expensive than either one of these cars. A5 3.2q has a much more sporting aspect to it than does the CLK, but less so than the 335xi coupe. However, sit in an A5, stand next to it...whatever...there's simply more 'substance' to it than the 335xi couple, and arguably more substance than the CLK.
Audi doesn't want to build a car that handles/looks/drives like a 335- that's BMW's job. Audi wanted to build a beautiful car that would appeal to it's target market; which isn't 16 y/o benchmark racers, but professionals who want a year round vehicle with class. Trust me- they don't care about 0-60 or skidpad times; not many profesionals will be tracking their A5.
I'm not 'defending' Audi- in fact I think the whole idea of 'defending' a car brand is insane- Kudos to the marketing teams at Audi and BMW; good morning Amazin and co...every car is built as a business case first and formost and designed purely with the intention of appealing to the broadest market possible.

irie i know it doesnt compete with the 335 in hourspower but they are they same price that was my point for 6 k more you can get 335 hp with the s5. i say loaded black series cause you get navi bigger wheels etc the convience packages are waste of money not needed you wouldnt even notice. i am suprised how these german companies get away with charging you for what is standard on every other car. convience key back camera for example. and the german versions arent as good as the japanese. anyway ok well equiped 335i how is that

The A5 is beautiful, inside and out. Too bad Audi is still charging the Early Adopter Tax. I'm keeping my eyes open for the A5 cab.

Agree with TO20T. It's silly to suggest one car or brand is so much better than the other when different models appeal to different market segments. And who cares if a 335 is slightly quicker around a track than an S5. Driving either on public roads using barely half the performance capability of them is likely to get you arrested!!! Having had 4 BMW's including two 330ci's it seemed the logical choice to get a 335ci and so I tested one on road and track. But I still got an S5 instead for all the reasons, and a few more besides, that others here have mentioned.
