Do You Agree? Survey Says Obama Is Like A BMW While McCain Is More Like A Ford
Politics are a complicated subject. To simplify the way consumers really feel about the presidential candidates, Landor Associates and research firm Penn, Schoen & Berland asked survey respondents to compare them to brands.

The results were telling. While Democratic nominee Barack Obama was compared to Google, his Republican competitor John McCain was likened to AOL. Obama was also associated with BMW and Target, while McCain was linked with Ford and Wal-Mart.

The 2008 Presidential ImagePower survey, released today, polled a cross-section of 1,002 registered voters between Oct. 1-6.

When asked what fictional spy they would compare the candidates to, Obama was likened to James Bond, while McCain was compared to Jack Bauer.

Obama is proactive and strives for improvement. He highlights flaws then quickly rectifies. BMW is constantly re-engineering to eliminate the possibility of developing a reputation for repeating malfunctions.

McCain tries to ride out problems. Instead of developing a new approach, he tries to maintain the current situation, then adds new elements and hopes for the best. He's a prototypical politician with good ol' American values. His personality makes the grade, but doesn't bring much else to the table. Ford is a good ol' American brand. It can get you from point A to point B, most of the time, but never really provides any thrills and is littered with problems. However, Ford doesn't redesign their cars, they just add new elements which eventually fall back into the trend of disgraceful quality.

Obama- Hydrogen 7- Character, class, and personality, but also at the forefront of redeveloping necessities. It's been evolved since it's inception to maintain it's reputation for state of the art technology and quality.

McCain- Ford Taurus- Clean cut, adequate for the need, but never setting itself apart from any other models. While the design has changed 3 times in it's 20 year lifetime, not much else has.

If you refrain from like Obama, there is absolutely nothing I can do to change your opinion. However, a certain part in your statement sparked my interest, "I feel sorry for America, they're going to get so screwed if pothead students and blacks show up in droves Nov 4th." By stating so, it has come to my attention you do not respect the political opinions of visible minorities within the United States. When portrayed in the correct manner, your comment appears to be of racial discrimination. Every American citizen has the privilege to vote for whom ever they choose, and I know for a fact that not only African Americans choose to vote for Barrack Obama. Just because Obama is of the African American race does not mean all African Americans will choose to vote for him. A sizable amount of American citizens feel that Barrack Obama is a overly qualified to be the president of the United States. In conclusion, it is time to omit the common stereotype of only African Americans and students voting in honor of Barrack Obama.

Yes, most African Americans choose to vote for Obama. The reasoning behind the chosen candidate of most African Americans being that it is finally a chance for the world to realize that Blacks can acquire the same seniority of Whites and other races around the world. I feel that it would be an effective decision for American citizens to be optimistic give Obama a chance, not only being because he is black, but because he is a very intelligent young leader. I feel that McCain's age plays a main factor in the election, by the time his term is complete he will be 76 years old and if elected for a second term he will be 80. I'm positive if Obama was not black, he would be the favorite candidate of most. It's time for change in the world and Americans need to surpass the fact that Obama is black and referred to by others as "inexperienced".

The inexperience arguement is funny considering Bush was experienced and well qualified to be president and look at the job he did... So maybe our definition of the qualifications should be adjusted. Maybe we need a fresh perspective in office. When you are on the inside, you tend to be conformed to your environment. That environment is corrupt and has not worked. I welcome change from someone that hasnt been on the inside long. Someone that will ask why do we do this this way and seek ways for improvement and change. Just my two cents. And I am a black Hillary supporter. And I read somewhere that ppl are choosing not to vote for Obama because he is black so isnt that the same as voting for him because he is black. 2 wrongs dont make a right but its going on on both side of the fence... unfortunetly.

Michael,

Couple things:

You're clearly passionate about your position, which is fine. However, there are two words that will immediately derail your argument and rightfully call into question your legitimacy and credibility.

Those two words are Osama and Hussein. A pathetically ignorant association thinly veiled as clever political humor. Idiot.

Also, in case you never took a history class, own an encyclopedia, or have no access to the internet (which would be strange based on you heated posts), the Vietnam war went from 1959 to 1975. Barack Obama was born in 1961. Do the math. He was between 2 and 14 during the war.

The Onion had a great article titled " McCain Campaign Slams Obama for Playing Tee-Ball during Vietnam", or something to that effect. There was line in it that went "If Barack was drafted into the Army, he probably would have went crying home to his momma." Hilarious. Except that this is in a satirical newspaper, and you're trying to make a legit point about your political views.

wow, I cannot BELIEVE someone gave you a boost for that. Aside from the spelling and grammatical errors that render your post almost unreadable, let me point out a couple of things for you for the future.

1) the POTUS does not "rule the country". That's kind of why we HAVE a President. Go get a 1st grade social studies book and read the chapter on "George Washington".
2) whether you like these candidates or not, neither of them are like Hitler. Hitler was responsible for the murder of over 8 million people, and caused a world war. As bad as either of these candidates may or may not be, you don't throw Hitler comparisons around lightly.

I'll ignore the "Obama is going to win just because he is black , black people dont even care if he's good or not" and "maybe he's going to mess up white peoples lifes" stuff, someone else can handle it from here.

Actually fuelfool's comment makes perfect sense. Fake AMG badges emphasize Obama's style over substance and the performance limiting governor is a great analogy of the performance killing raise in taxes on businesses that Obama proposes which will accomplish nothing more but driving business off-shore. http://townhall.com/columnists/LarryElder/2008/10/09/in_defense_of_the_rich

its funny, the side that uses logic on this site, gets rated down. The side without any argument just blind faith, gets boosted up.

Then again, if all you are voting for is 'change' without asking what the change is... then god help us all.

seriously. its all about who has the most potential to lead the US forward with reason and listen to the right people in the decision making process. john mccain has some good points, but you have to look at the probability here. first he is 71 and has had cancer. he has a high probability of dying in his first term. then second he has picked a VP candidate that is an idiot. if anyone thinks she can lead our county then you are an idiot too. this shows his lack of judgement and political motivation over the better good of this country. he has shown his inability to handle pressure in simple debates and wears his anger on his sleeve.

i consider myself a republican, but i wouldnt vote for this 1979 ford f-100 if you put a gun to my head.

AMAZINGBUMMER

I am deeply sadden by your multiple postings and I can not fathom that anybody could keep posting such blatantly ignorant comments.
I can see only a few possibilities to such postings;
1- you are between the age of 12 and 16 years old and you know absolutely nothing about cars.
2- you are playing the devil advocate and purposely post the most radical comments you can come up with in order to create flame wars and outrage.
3- you really believe in BMW superiority and in this case I am really sorry for you, because such ignorance and arrogance are beyond any comprehension.
4- you might suffer from some brain damage or genetic disorder and therefore I am, and we all will be sorry for you and forgive your constantly ridiculous comments.

I wish you well, I apologize if you had to refer to the dictionary while reading my comment, as I noticed quite often that grammar and vocabulary were not your forte.

I do respect BMW as a brand and as a product, they do seem to have lost their edge and it is clear that "accounting" and "marketing" have a lot to say in how the product is being built.
Life is about making the right compromises, and if you are knowledgeable, educated and with the means, which vehicle is going to fit those compromises is for each their own. But to pompously push your favorite brand like you do is a little to much for this site sometimes.

If it is a game to you, there is something disturbing to how you envision your social interaction with other through the internet.
Maybe therapy is something you might consider.

If you have half of an understanding of what you are doing when you post a comment and read the answers to it, you should have had your laugh a long time ago and give it a rest.

So no matter who you are, and what are your purposes, please get a life, get a grip, get a BMW, get a hobby, put please for the sake of this website, even if you are an agent in disguise, STOP, before all the real cars enthusiasts and connoisseur leave for good.

Be well.

Since McCain used to drive an F-4 Phantom, I'd say he's more like 911 Turbo.

Obama is more like a Lincoln, flashy and smooth, but unreliable.

Wow...looks like there are a lot of folks in here who don't know squat about economics, history, and how the legislative system operates.

First, McCain drives a Cadillac CTS and Barry drives a Ford Escape. Don't think that Barry is a BMW as they are too reliable, have a history of accomplishments (in engineering, style, etc) and understated elegance is their mantra.

Barack needs to have fireworks and a crowd of 100,000 drones around him wherever he goes and acts as an apologist overseas. - BMW has never apologized for anything.

If McCain is anything, he is what he drives, a Cadillac. A brand with a lot of history, classic American heritage, has had it's problems straying from the pack a few times, but recently has come around with fresh ideas and a fair amount of reliability.

Aside, to date, every Barry Obama supporter that I have spoken with can't give me one reason why he is qualified to be President, except for the following:

1. Change
2. Hope
3. Bush is an Idiot.

After reading all of your posts, this has not changed. As far as I can tell Obama is a left-wing socialist, who will do whatever is necessary to acquire power.

While we will not have four more years of Bush, we will have four more years of blaming him for the current (and future) failed democrat economic policies that the Bush administration has tried to reform 17 times over the past 8 years, but has been voted down along party lines in committee every single time.

Barack Obama will never take credit for his own failures, nor will Harry Reid or Nancy Pelosi. BTW, which two of those 3 do you think will be actually running the show if this clown is office?

Whatever the outcome, us Conservatives will look forward to the backlash against the Dems in two years. In the meantime, one or two new LLC's will be all it takes to bury our income and keep it from Barack's welfare programs...lot's of costs in researching investments during a time like this. - Heck, we'll probably get a fat check in the mail because the government will be under the impression that we only make $25K a year (which is true, of course).

I've already cast my FL vote for McCain. - We'll see what happens.

Best to those on the right side of the fence.
