GM delays Chevrolet Cruze until 2011

Just yesterday we got a taste of how bad things are really getting for GM. Cash is so tight that the company is not only delaying production model world premieres but is even scrutinizing over electricity and utility bills.

As times get worse, GM is doing all it can from laying off salaried workers, selling brands and closing plants. Latest reports from sources say that the much anticipated 2011 Chevrolet Cruze, which was supposed to be GM’s major opportunity to lure in fuel-efficient conscious customers, will be delayed almost a year.

Please don't tell me you live in the US. Short-sighted people like you who are responsible for all of America's problems.

As for the Cruze... this sucks, I was planning on getting rid of my winter beater and getting one of these.... damnit.

If things improve (hope to God they will) then GM might start un-doing some of the limb-cutting to save the body. Hopefully things turn around, Americans start buying domestics (which they should since finally the domestic brands are making very nice cars) and GM restarts its halted programs. For example, the Cruze, UV-8, etc.

It's called capitalism. If they chose to make garbage for thirty years, and people want to buy foreign vehicles that provide a better value, GM will have to pay for that decision. That's how our country was founded, and people are finally realizing there are better choices out there. There have been so many plant closings and layoffs, it's not like their bankruptcy would put that many more people out of work, anyhow.

I think that putting these new small/midsize car releases on hold is a bad idea. There was a lot of hype over the CTS coupe and the Cruze.

GM should consider eliminating horrible vehicles like the Colorado/Canyon/H3/H3T, and unnecessary vehicles like the Acadia/Outlook (keep Traverse/Enclave), Cobalt, G5, phase out Buick and GMC, realign Pontiac, and dump Hummer and Saab to some other suckers. Once all of these take place, GM can save some money and quit worrying about electric bills.
