M5 video review- Top Gear says the M5 is ugly-we're shocked!

DEFINITELY worth watching the flick all the way through. The host states the facts about this car. It's ugly, it's annoying, it's fragile, but it's one of the best handling cars around.

Time to replace the "Ultimate Driving Machine" tagline with a more accurate:

Yes, the gizmos are going to hamper the buyers of the new 5 series as they did on the 7 series. It's a pity that it takes 500 hp to make it rewarding. I truly hope the new M3 will remain true to the "Ultimate Driving Machine" principal. Looking forward to experiencing a V8 with 400 hp in a 3 seres without all the electronic crap. If it has all the crap I just saw on the 5 series M5 review, I will not buy one and do not think the current M3 owners will move that way either. We want a drivers car......How many agree with me or am I "OLD SCHOOL"????? jOHN

Well done, Top Gear. While everyone seems to be praising the V10, the incredibily awkward, slow and error prone I Drive interface seems to be suddenly forgotten and forgiven. BMW is arrogrant as not to admit a design fault here (just read their press release on the 2006 facelift 7 series). The 500+ horsepower / improved handling becomes the only selling point here. The car is still ugly, the electronics is still a joke. Hint for BMW: You do realize that Sony is the best selling consumer electronics brand in Germany - subcontract a Japanese firm to do your electronics.

No matter whether you have the M5 body claddings or not it is not easy on the eyes.

Did someone notice that just above the M5 on the scoreboard was the Evo VIII !!!! Now that is performance at a bargain!!

The volume button is on the other side of the steering wheel where the +/- is. And even though he hit the wrong button and changed the radio station, all he would have had to do is push that button down to go back to the previous station that he was listening to. And most of the I-Drive settings are just one time things,(he made it seem like everytime you get in the car you have to set them up again) if you were to buy one a BMW dealer would guide you through your settings before you left the dealer so you wouldnt have to mess with them later. I think the biggest mistake BMW made is not offering manual transmission.
