AUTOSPIES EXCLUSIVE: Spies Get The First REAL Leaked Images Of The Next Lexus RX350 and 450h!
The Spies are working late tonight and our hard work has paid off as our ace Asian super spy Lee, has gotten his hands on the first REAL photos of the next generation Lexus RX-Series.

Check out the shots from what looks like the Japanese brochure for the new SUV/Crossovers.

Hopefully someone can translate the Japanese and enlighten our readers to some of the cool new features and specs...

So what's the initial verdict Spies? STUD or DUD?

GREAT work Lee!!!!

What's the whole point of the awesome matte black LF-Xh if all we get is some iteration with a touch of Toyota's taste?!

If Lexus is gonna continue with this sort of design practice, more and more people (including Lexus fans like me) are gonna ask, "Why not just get a Highlander?"

The Lexus Isn't Bad, its just it stresses to much on the finer details. Take the head lights for example. Closely, they are beautiful, well crafted. Then look at the rest of the car. Clearly, Lexus has great ideas, but doesn't look at the big picture.

Like an article a little while ago comparing the RX to an ML. The ML simply is more luxurious and has more of a premium feel and is built very well. The RX is built very well too but it's wood trim and overall look doesn't look like it's in the same class.

I think the current RX looks better than this upcoming generation. I've had RX's as my courtesy car and it's very good but I've also had an ML as a courtesy car when my S was getting serviced.

I am more biased towards the GS and LS model ranges as the only cars that could be considered premium status. The IS looks like any other Japanese car, the ES is a luxurious Camry, RX is a luxurious Highlander and the LX is a luxurious Landcruiser.

Just my two cents. I'm prepared for the deboosting from the fanboys. I have an LS460 does that help? :)... Probably not huh?

It is big stories like this that make me miss users like MichaelTaylor. His biased spin sure would be funny on how he expects this new RX to shake up the SUV establishment.

Seriously though, I was expecting a lot more from the redesign, this looks more mid-cycle refresh versus brand new redesigned model. On the other hand, we are talking Lexus, very conservative Lexus - why mess with a winning formula.

I'd say Dud, but that doesn't mean it won't sell like hotcakes.

I see a lot of Camry in the headlights/grill area and Mazda CX-9 from the c-pillars back. I always thought the RX was an oddly styled "SUV" and this generation continues this theme. It will probably still sell like hotcakes though.

The interior looks good, specifically the dash around the nav screen - looks in line with the other newer lexus interiors.

The exterior, however, is a forced derivative of the current generation and the tailights are crap - they look like a weak attempt to rip off Mazda CX-9 tailights. Note to lexus: either do all-clear lenses or all-red - not a combo of both.

I've always thought that the RX has an 'insect-like' look (beetle, fly) perhaps due to the prominent projector-beam headlights and this design keeps that design thread going.

DUD.

Does Toyota even dare their design team to get little bold or striking in their efforts? Just when I think Toyota couldn't possibly get more conservative, they do. What do they call Lexus? The japanese Buick? I'm starting to believe that now.

None of it looks much different from the current model. The front looks pretty much the same with just a hint of the LS in there. The back reminds me too much of the Mazda CX. The interior is nice but thats as far as my enthusiasm goes.

Let me put it like this, an old friend of my grandmothers has an 06' model and she will not be disappointed with this. Did I mention she's about 72 years old?

Total dud. More of the same from Lexus -- their SUVs don't do anything particularly well. They don't have great on-road or off-road performance. And what's up with the ridiculous location and angle of the shift lever? Why do they insist on doing this in the RX? Why can't they just put on the floor where its supposed to be??! (thank you BMW, btw, for putting it back on the floor in the new 7er).

I see the badge-whores are out in full force today.

It might not be a Ferrari, might not be made in Germany, and might not be your cup of tea, but...is this thing really that bad?

Granted, I love Lexus. However I've been dissapointed in them as of late. The LF-A seems like a galactic waste of time and resources, the ES shows that the higher-ups at Lexus thought it was OK to let quality slide, and the GS/IS aren't nearly as cool as they should have been.

But I think this RX is a nice direction. The exterior ain't mind-blowing (nor is it as cool as the conept) but the interior is futuristically funky, and luxurious in the Japanese way.

Weird how it's getting knocked because it doesn't have the same vibe as vehicles like the ML from Merc, but if it followed more along that path I'm sure the same folks would be dogging it for being a copy-cat.

Good job Lexus. Now get to work on a good SC replacement, and a coupe version of the LS. Oh, and don't forget to keep your quality standards up too.

The interior looks... interesting, as others have said. It could be the best in class or it could be the worst.

The exterior is ruined by the bulbous wheel arches. They work on some cars (S-Class, anyone?), but here they look fat and weird. It kind of looks like a melted version of the current one.

Also, note to Lexus... see how Acura and Infiniti dropped the clear lenses? You should've too. It looks cheap now.

I don't see why it's a bad decision. The GX470 and LX470 both have three rows of seating, and it wouldn't make sense to have three SUVs of the same size. If you want a three-row Lexus, get a GX, it's barely more expensive than this car.

I bought a new 08 RX 400h in march rather than wait and now I am glad I diden't wait for this.
While the exterior is a slight improvement its still just a cosmetic face lift, what happened to the concept car styling we were all waiting on . The interior is another matter, that swoosh look around the shift lever is just plain wierd looking, at least there is a full console however and too bad they diden't mount it on the console like most normal cars. Then door trim is kinda of non descript and just plain looking actually in a negative way with the diagonla stripe and no wood trim. The insturment cluster looks like it might resemble the LS600h in form and function and I like that. However I bet you the price is up nicely to pay for the retooling, and if it is it's too bad because overall I like my 08 just as well and certainly better if there is a significant price increase.

Overall what a letdown, Lexus should not put out these great looking concept cars if they are goint to be so dam conservative on the actual production car.

disappointing..the rear lights are really wimpy looking, and do remind me of a CX-9 (NOT the target Lexus wants to be aiming at), and for some reason the profile reminds me of a Honda CR-V (with a little Infiniti FX thrown in), i think it's the rear windows. The rear hatch looks overly sloped, which could cut into the usable storage area. as someone who was potentially in the market for one of these things, not sure this is it, unlike the first time i saw the current Mercedes ML and knew it was the car for me.
