Genesis Coupe vs. nissan 370Z

Is this a joke?

We all know the Genesis will lose on every front.

The Hyundai people are praying that the Z gets a 6 speed, not the 7 speed. But, we all know that the 6 speed Nissan tranny will whipe the floor with the hyundai. Also, the Z had the higher HP than the Infiniti coupe "twin", so expect to see higher than 330 hp, not 300-330 like the rabid hyundai aficionados speculate the HP ratings to be. Even then, expect the rated HP to be lower than the actual HP.

with the gtr the hp is actually higher than the claimed hp.. not complainin but maybe nissan will have more in the 370z.. the genesis will put on a good show tho in straight line. dont hate bro!.

The Hyundai could have seriously used a more aggressive grill. Otherwise, it has great lines and a classy interior. The Nissan is more striking overall however, the design is cohesive, and frankly they surprised me since I'm used to their minor evolutions over at Infiniti. For looks, my vote goes to the Nissan.

You say that you are used to their "minor" evolutions over at Infiniti? Uhh.. we are talking about Nissan here, but regardless, Nissan is not the "minor evolution" company. Nissan and Infiniti almost always come out with radical redesigns.

The only one I can think of that has had an "evolutionary" redesign is the G.

Oh, and the Altima. But that's really it.

The 3rd gen G (current) is evolutionary, as is the current Altima.

Everything else has been a dramatic change and introduced something entirely new to the auto industry.

I'll take the nissan

It takes long time to fine tunning suspension, and being the first RWD of Huydai, I think there's still long way to go.

Everything is possible, just takes time.

370Z hands down.

Overall performance wise no doubt the Z will walk all around this car,but styling wise...i hate to see it...that genesis is a nice looking car.

The Genesis coupe being compared to the 370Z makes no since. The Genesis coupe should compete with the altima coupe, accord coupe, and cars like that. Either way, the 370Z wins!

this one is a very hard one to answer. don't know wich one to go for. OK! 370Z wins my vote. there's something about the GENESIS that still tells me DISPOSABLE, but i don't know why. oh, i know, it's the badge.

So what if the Genesis is compared with the 370z. It's like the GT-R compared to a Porsche. If you're looking at brand image and prestige obviously nothing makes sense here. However, since their both economy brands and horsepower it only seems right. I would choose the Nissan myself but you can't rule out a Hyundai beating a Nissan(at least in straight line performance) and not saying it will either but using it as an example.

my 300zx will beat any of these cars. 0-60 3.5 seconds. 700hp, upgraded twin turbos, advan tires, full suspension/shock, full exhaust system, and full functional wing.

I love the grass roots effort Hyundai put up lately. They've made some great strides in their image and quality of their cars. But seriously, this is no contest. The Z is the much more better and desired car in every aspect.

I will give Hyundai credit trying to improve their product all this year, and they did a good job at it. But come on...this Hyundai Genesis had the Infiniti design written all over it.

The Nissan Z is legendary among the true auto ethuasist, just like the BMW M performance cars.

No comparison, 370Z definitely, it will destroy all of its competitors in every aspect. I'm very happy to see the Z's interior fixed in both design wise and quality. The rear panel of the Z is crazy, it looks kind of scary and ugly together, it shows ugliness full of power which makes it scary. Yet the Genesis looks kind of old, or standard shape, nothing new nor catchy about it, and as its 310hps, I’m sure when driven it will not feel like that many hps are under the hood, compared to the Z, oh God it will make your heart beat faster than it can, so be careful not to have a heart attack when driving it.

370Z everytime. And here in Middle East, Infiniti G37s produces 350BHP, so there are good chances of this new 370Z gettitng the same upgraded engine. Interior of Z is also improved a lot.

I think the Badgwhore makes an interesting point. The Genesis Coupe was designed to compete against the previous 350Z and Infinity G35. If you look at the dimensions the Genesis coupe is almost Infinity coupe sized at around 180 inches. It has the a wheelbase over 100 inches. Nissan,on the other hand,has now significantly shortened the wheelbase on the new 370Z to 99 inches or less. It's been stated that the maximum wheelbase benchmark for a good handling sportscar is 99 inches. So I think their marketing intent is slightly different. Nissan is now challenging Porsche. It is lcear that the 370Z is going directly after the Porsche Cayman. The Genesis coupe on the other hand competes against Nissan's Altima Coupe,Honda's Accord Coupe,and Mitsubishi's Eclipse Coupe. All those coupes will be significantly larger then Nissan's 370Z. I would expect the Z to be around 160 to 165 inches in length and weigh in around 3000 to 3100 LBS.In terms of looks again they target different buyers. I think the overall shape of the Genesis mimiks the Infinity G37 a bit and has a more elegant look both inside and out. Nissan's 370Z is also good looking but clearly is more aggressive in both exterior and interior. The interior of the Z seems a bit more minimalist compared to the Hyundai.Performance wize the Nissan should (and I say should because we have no performance numbers out yet)wipe the floor with the Hyundai.It is lighter in weight,has a much shorter wheelbase and a slightly more powerful engine. In fact I would venture to say it would still do well in a 3.5 engine against the Hyundai.In fact I think Nissan should offer the 3.5 in the new Z a slightly lower cost for the market. Both Porsche and BMW do this as well.I think the difference may well be the Hyundai is a sports coupe GT while the Nissan is more of a sportscar.

The Hyundai , isnt there yet. And they you posted the Hyundai from the worst possible angle, the front. Thats the Hyundai's worst feature. (and the interior is cheap looking). Hyundai has come a very long way, it wont be long before they get it on target...they are much closer than they used to be. They are just (within the last 5 years)getting over their reputation from commercials where you can get an Excel w/ air conditioning for $4995.00, circa 1987. Give them a little more time.

Obviously the 370Z has leg up over this Genesis coupe. But, once we get that 370Z on the road, then we can get some 'real' comparo's going.

Right...the 335i "badgewhore" car that runs circles around that slow ass G37? Calling the car enthusiasts... badge-whores doesn't make you look too smart, buddy. Everybody knows that the real badge-whores are the ones that pay a premium to drive a rebadged Nissan econobox.

I can own 2 Grand Marquis for the price of A Genisis.

Mercury gives me the V8 for free. Mercury gives me a Full Size Spare so I don't have to call a silly towtruck and continue down the road if I run over a nail. Oh yea, I can Jack the car from anywhere since it does have a frame. Not to mention I can tow 5,000 lbs with a Grand Marquis, meaning I don't have to have a 2nd truck in my driveway. 1 car does it all.
