2010 Mercury Milan Hybrid Spied

While the wraps on the 2010 Mercury Milan (along with its Ford and Lincoln cousins) won't come off until November's Los Angeles auto show, we caught the refreshed midsize sedan testing in the cold, dark Michigan night.

All three examples shown here are, in fact, Milan Hybrids, a new offering for the 2010 model year. Though we don't yet know the exact specifications, rumors suggest the Milan Hybrid will share a considerable amount of powertrain with the Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner Hybrids, including the Atkinson-cycle 2.5-liter I-4 and a revised series-parallel hybrid transaxle sourced from Aisin. We hear Ford poured considerable effort into that revised system, which may now be capable of mating with larger engines - perhaps the Milan's 3.0-liter V-6.

Like much of Ford's revised offerings, the roofline of the Milan is carried over from the current car, but there is noticeable change in both front and rear. Up front, the 2010 Milan wears an all-new fascia which, given the curvaceous form of its headlamps, almost hints at the car's Mazda's roots. The Mercury waterfall grille is still prominent - perhaps even more so, as it's wider than before and flows right from a chunky power bulge on the hood.

I thought Ford said they were halting the prodcution of Mercury vehicles.

I think it looks rather nice. The Milan currently is better looking than the Ford and Lincoln versions.

It amazes me that when I nice lookig car comes out, people throw tomatoes at it because it has the Ford Nameplate.

How about that ugly Acura with the Edsel Beak on the fron grille, yet people love that ugly car simply becuse it has tha Acura Nameplate.

I've owned many Mercurys. They are very dependable and heavy duty. They are built to last, at least the big cars. They come with a Full Size Spare tire and a full frame to make it simple for the owner to work on the car for maintenance or to chage a tire quickly.

everyone like to buy foriegn these days as if it is a status symbol. Lets face it folks, your not buying a Lambrgini when you buy a Honda. I like to buy American products to keep our money from funding oversea banks. The US economy is in the tank because of our selfish consumer choices.

The Ford Motor Company has always performed for me and exceeded my expectations. I can easily service my Ford alone without having to get an expensive repair bill from a dealer. I like that.

I buy the heavy Duty Fords, not the cheapest econo-boxes that frankly Ford is not the best at building.

Botom line is I get great results for resonable fuel consumption.

Time was, people bought a Hyundia because they couldn't afford an American Car.

I see the Genisis is a large rear whell drive car with the same sized 4.6L V8 as Mercury. Here's the kicker, you can own 2 Grand Marquis for the price of the Genisis, and Mercury gives You the V8 and normal spare tire in the equasion.
