Maybe Obama and the Democrats will bail the US auto companies out because I highly doubt Republicans will.

In fact, I've folded my flag up for the next 4 years.

I don't think anyone has a choice about the bail out. This is a terrible day for the detroit three, and there is hardly anything in the positve.

Yes your right GM is at fault,So is Ford and Chrysler,so are the banks,the mortgage companies,the Bush administration and congress. They are all at fault. Bottom line it does not matter.If the government does not bail out industries here and in some cases own a part of them for a period of time this country will go into a great depression. The net result will be a 10 fold increase in poverty,homelessness,disease and crime. If the US goes into a depression the world goes into a depression. The result of a world depression will be armed conflicts and perhaps a world war. Yes the government needs to do what ever possible to avoid a depression including bailing out industries....period.

Ussually expenditures like charities and campain funding a company would give when they had to money to give. I could be wrong.

I do aggree, the Goverment needs to give money to bail the big three out. This country can not take another big hit or we will be a depression and our ecomomy effects the whole world.

The Goverment has to bail them out or our country will lose 2+ MILLION jobs the big three did not survive. Do you know how this would impact our country's economy?, if this the big three went out of business the other auto makers in other country's would soon fail as well because since stupid un loyal Americans that buy their JUNK wont have the money to buy. Crazy America is the only place in the World Lexus is even sold, every other place in the world there is not a Lexus name plate it is just Toyoto.

And has for Bush the housing market and banking problems where not caused by him, it was all the liberals at Freddie and Fannie Mae that made this happen. Lenders where giving loans like money was water, then they tighten up so much that they have made it so diffecult to get a loan for Homes, to cars to small business loans. Infact even since the Goverment gave them the 700 Billion they still have not losened up and the banks are hording the money and some of these bigger banks are buying other banks with the money that is our tax money. The white House has come out many times telling the Banks losen up we did not give the money to have the banks keep under lock and key.

And as for the UAW the big Three need to break them since the UAW is killing the big three.

The UAW needs to be GONE!!!! and GM, Ford, And Chrysler would be profitable again.

The state governments are next. They have huge Pension and Healthcare liabilities. Schools and communities will be hit hard when people don't have the money to keep thier house. Property taxes cease when the botom drops out.

Looks like the Wal-Mart Model of cheaper is better will topple our way of life.

bestofallcad-I agree with you on many points.But you seem to focus in only on the Democrats. Lets be clear the Bush administration has been in power now for nearly 8 yrs. They have to take some responsibility here as well.There was a severe lack of regulatory enforcement.Remember Bush has always stood for deregulation. If the head of the SEC had been doing his job then perhaps the government would have clamped down on these banks and mortgage companies from going against responsible lending practices. Yes no question the Democrats are responsible as well because they felt it was a noble thing to help the poor. The problem is that they never figured out that the poor would not be able to handle making payments especially when these loan payments started to double.At this point it is useless to point blame. Rather all you can do is deal with the current situation and start making some changes. Some issues that has really pissed me off is the fact that this bailout is still allowing those CEO's to get by with some golden parachutes. Further they are allowing these mutual companies to continue to pay full dividends to their stock holders. Finally we are going to be taxed for the legal fees that will be incurred by these CEO's that are being sued by the government. How is all this fair.
