001 Drives The Mercedes SL65 Black Series- Best Benz Ever?

Agent 001 jetted to San Francisco directly from the 2008 SEMA Auto Show to test the new SL65 Black Series AMG and two new upcoming ML63 AMG Special Editions.

Claiming the Black is the best Benz ever can be debated but in my opinion, even though there have been some great cars from MB over the years, there are NONE better than the 65 Black Series Cars.

And to take this one step further, the SL65 Black Series is without question one of the best cars I've ever driven in my lifetime.

Plus, it's more comfortable driving this everyday supercar than your standard M3.

Are you basing this on the price tag of the SLR? being more expensive doesn't necessarily mean it's better. I love both the SLR and the SL Black Series. Both are niche market cars for people who don't need to justify anything.

Mercedes is rounding the AMG brand into uber-form. They're trying their damndest to be considered the top dog of the manufacturer performance class, over ///M and RS.
I like the Black Series vehicles. F-1 safety cars for the street.

You are lucky to experience the beast SL65 Black Series. Many of us on Auto Spies will probably not ever get to feel the torque and power of this super-Merc. In a way I find this to have more road presence than the SLR. Perhaps it's the wide body.

I personally prefer the design to the SLR.

I always have thought the SLR was out of proportion.
