Revealed: 2010 Lexus dedicated hybrid sedan

Toyota is planning to unveil a concept version of a new dedicated hybrid vehicle for its Lexus brand at next year’s Detroit Auto Show, however several preview sketches of the final production version as well as some details, including its new name, have turned up on a number of internet forums.

The car is going to have a completely different powertrain to the Prius. It's styling is for aerodynamics, so it's understandable it will be shaped like the Prius.

Yes, the new Prius is meant to get a 1.6 or 1.8L petrol engine (the current has a 1.5L). This lexus hybrid will get a 2.4L petrol engine for its hybrid powertrain.

ES back end with a prius front end...lexus is grabbing at straws at this point. we may have seen the fastest rise and decline of a luxury brand ever.

It's size is larger than the IS and smaller than an ES. I see more of the IS in the back, and wheels look like the 17" IS250 wheels.

As Rybo mentioned, the drivetrain is not from the Prius, but actually a majority of it will be from the Camry Hybrid.

And the camry hybrid powertrain comes from the prius. All Toyota hybrids share the same general architecture and the same hybrid design. They just beef up parts for bigger engines and cars.

Urrm .. make that our cash (atleast for all my fellow citizens et all in the US) as GM is currently rated as sell for 0.00 . There are on deathwatch as they will probably run out of money by Dec.
Good news is that Obama will bail them out. But he will force them to clean house in abig way ..

Hope it would have some cool interior stuff like a full LCD screen for all insturmentation or something to make it special.

Otherwise it's kind of an odd space to fill between a high end Prius and a small Lexus.

The reader comments are from 2007.

This is not current Lexus design language. And TMC is not going to use the old 2.4L engine in a brand new Lexus.

I hope that the car doesn't look like anything in this sketch. This looks like the yaris sedan. Lexus has some nice looking cars GS IS and LS series are all decent looking but this hybrid just looks horrible

There is talk the powertrain will be from the Camry hybrid, a 2.4L four with the Camry hybrid motors.
