BMW 335d and X5d pricing announced

Not Bad... But in typical BMW fashion, add a few options, and those prices will rise rapidly.

X5 needs an M version.

I like the 335d but BMW just missed the middle class market by about 15k where its most important. Unless they are going to make a 1 series Diesel then I will take back what I said.

were you expecting the 335d to be $12k less expensive than a 335i, or $5k less than a 328i? Because I don't see how you could have thought that was possible. I don't know that they'd even price a 4-cylinder gasoline car that low.

No manual. Big poo.

I guess I'll test drive it when possible. I usually despise automatics with the exception of having them in luxury cars. I still think with a clutch would help give it better mileage.

You also forget Sailor that new autos of any substantive quality use locking torque converters that eliminate that power sapping old autos were known for. I still think a manual as an option would sure be nice. Europeans seem to be able to drive manual diesels without burning up clutches as you suggest. I just think BMW sees their target market on this one. Americans are losing the ability to drive a manual with every new generation.

There seems to be a concerted effort by the idiots in BMW USA to price themselves out of the market.
We shall see how they cope with the competition.

BMW should introduce the fantastic 320d or the 325d for those segments.

by 'those' i mean people who want a 30k 3-series desiel (28k for 320d and 32k for 325d).

The X5d is just $3,000 under the base price of the X5 4.8i which is also pricey when you add it typical options. I wonder if BMW will continue to sell any 4.8i's after that or at least drop in the TT V-8 as a range topper?
