At least with a Hyundai the driver actually drives the car. Whereas in a Lexus, the car drives for you, e.g. auto parking feature.

if you guys would look at the posting and then click back and see the other two photos, you'd see that in one there's a relatively clear shot inside the cabin of the car. Looks like a steering wheel with airbag unit to me....

hyundai has made tremendous strides with this car. but it's no world class automobile in either quality or performance. in fact, i hear they're quite a bore to drive. no wonder the driver fell asleep.

Korea's cars get more stripped down options that the US Spec cars, I lived there for 14 months and rode in a lot of Korean spec cars so I know this for a fact.

And believe it or not, Hyundai's have come a long way since the days of shitty mitsu engines and econoboxes, obviously if Mitsu trusted them enough to use their engine in the EVO X and others are using a product of Hyundai and having good luck.

I think the car was so smart that it realized the driver was an idiot for getting behind the wheel so tired and falling asleep that it taught him a lesson and purposefully did not turn the bags on.

On a more realistic note, even in new cars like these airbags are optional features depending on where in the world you are, it cuts costs down and is not regulated by governments, hence less safety features.

Back to my earlier point, dont be fools, if your tired, don't drive. It's just as bad as drunk driving.

Did anyone think about the possibility of a driver who was not buckled up? Wouldn't the sensor tell the airbag not to deploy in that case?

It's amazing how much bigotry is still present amongst you "enthusiasts." It applies to the person who posted this article without much consideration. This sort of reproach should not be tolerated at Autospies.com. I hope you are listening agents!!!!!!

The only reason why I posted this to autopsies is not to bash Hyundai in any way. I would have done the same even if it was a car I liked. Sure, airbags don't always go off, but this car is brand new, the crash was head on and the occupants could have escaped some injury.

I am not trying to scare buyers, rather wait for euroncap / iihs crash testing before purchasing this vehicle, maybe there is a problem that needs to be addressed, maybe not.

I would expect people to raise issues like this, can make the difference between life and death and that's no joke, not for me at least.
