WEB RAGE FRIDAY-Tell The World What's On Your Mind-GOOD or BAD!
TGIF.

It's the end of the week and probably a hard one for most of our readers due to the uncertainty of this crazy economy.

So we thought we would start something new, to lighten things up or give you a place to vent at the end of a hard week.

We're calling it "Web Rage Friday" and we're going to test the response over the next few weeks.

This will be the place where you can come to let it all you rage out...GOOD or BAD.

WHATEVER is on your mind, jazzing you or just plain frying your ass.

And it doesn't have to be just about cars although that subject makes the most sense here...Voice your opinion on anything that's happened this week in in vogue.

If you bought a new car and you're fired up, tell us.

If you got hosed by a dealer or your significant other...share it!

You get the idea.

This will be your place at AutoSpies.com to let it ALL hang out with your buds or your adversaries.

They may actually be able to help you feel better or just help you get the bad vibe off your chest.

And all we ask is to keep it clean and be respectful.

We didn't say don't vent happiness or anger, just be clean and respectful.

I think a lot of posters forget that you can say something in colorful language if you use your brain and don't have to drop the F-Bomb.

I'll kick this thing off with my rant to get the show going so check the comments for my rant.

Have at it boys and girls!

And remember RAGE here, NOT on the road!

Ok,

So I'll kick this off with the first rant.

WHEN are the executives of these large auto companies going to FINALLY admit THEY were a part of the failure and that they won't be taking bonuses, salary, stock and whatever until it's fixed!

What a bunch of overrated WEASELS!

I'm so sick and tired of reading thread after thread, and post after post in here about how the American auto industry has failed in this way or that, when these very dips posting this crap are the same ones who never/seldom have a positive thing to post regarding American products one way or another.... No Matter How Competitive or Good Those Products Might Be.

All this Euro/Nippo-Fan-Boi BS has done nothing but inculcated into readers minds that everything American is inherantly inferior.

Yes, the American auto industry coud be more competitive in some ways, but they still offer much that is to be desried, and it's high time it was recognized.

+ 10 ...if I could ...I'd also like to add how 'BS**T' everyone is if they think that all 3 automakers should be allowed to fail. Yes, there are management problems and the Unions are about as greedy as greedy can get. But why should the American economy and the millions of hard working individuals who are basically caught in the middle suffer for their failures!! There are those that are doing there best to turn things around. There are also many hard working individuals who only want do their best and only want a good paycheck and benefits like the rest of us in America. Somehow the Union has become the face of the American auto worker and that is an unfair label. If you had someone at your job who was fighting to get you %10 raises every year and basically strong arming management for free healthcare on your behalf, you wouldn't want to throw this person out on their a$$ because your the one benefiting. My take is help the big 3 to survive but toss out the Management and Unions on their collective a$$es because they bare 99% of the responsibility for what wrong with the American auto industry.

I'll play devils advocate here (how appropriate).

I was a Detroit customer through out the 80's and 90's and I have to say the edge they may have had then is long gone. There are only a paltry few models that Detroit makes that come close to their competition. I'm not talking about the very few standouts like the ZR-1, CTS-V, or even the Malibu. I am talking about bread an butter cars in general.

I travel quite a bit and when choosing a rental car I try to sample a bit of everyone's wares. These are generally good examples of what people on the street buy not just the top of the line models. I have to say I am horrified on many occasions at the lack of competence I see.

From the quality of the materials to the level of competence the car has in everyday driving we the Detroit 3 are still lagging way behind.

I'll give you just the latest example of my trip to Colorado this week.

I rented a Dodge Journey EXT. The SUV had a whopping 1500 miles on it when I got it and still had the paper plates. I did like the taught styling, much better job than other Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep derivatives.

The engine (V6) was way under powered though it was silky smooth. A Honda Pilot would eat this cars lunch getting on the highway. The transmission could never figure out what gear to stay in on the hills of Colorado Springs, making around town driving a constant symphony of rpm changes as the transmission selected different gears. The four wheels discs were adequate in general, but really faded coming back down from Pike’s Peak. However fast slow downs from 90 to 65MPH seemed to be no problem. Gas mileage was a surprising 21 MPG with miles and miles of highways driving over 85 MPH.

Right window never worked stuck in the up position. Better stuck up than down I guess, with 30 degree nights. The interior overall looked fine for right now, but the cheap plastic finishes would not wear well after 3 years of use. You could see this in the first month of ownership.

Loved the handy storage below the seat cushion and the refrigerated storage area for drinks was nice too, just wish it wasn't dependent on the AC to work. As thoughtful as these items were I wouldn’t buy a car based on these options. The handy little 110 Volt AC plug is a great idea if it actually worked in the car (second car I have had with this option, and neither worked). Sadly these features were the only thing that stood out on the whole car.

Overall the car was merely ok, but the Japanese have much better features for the same price. This car would be a 3rd or 4th choice at best.

So there you have it. A new design but still far short of the competition.

So for now I haven't seen a reason to move back to a Detroit based product.

Wow! Where to begin! So, I'll stick to the auto industry. Detroit did this to themselves. Along with the help of the UAW. But what NO ONE AT ANY LEVEL of the Govt is willing to really talk about is: that a HUGE part of the problem is the ridiculous and unregulated increase in the cost of healthcare! It is one of the core issues that Detroit (as well as almost every level of our society) is suffering from. Every month, millions have to be spent just to keep up. So, will any politician ever have the guts to say this in public? Yes, they give lip service talk about reforming the healthcare system. But so did Clinton 16 years ago and what did he accomplish? Nothing. Until we get healthcare truly under control and actually get the escalation in costs down, bailouts of any kind are simply a partial band aid at best. Then there is the management of the Auto companies themselves: Some of these guys should go to jail. Period. The writing has been on the walls for years that the SUV & Truck lifestyle that Detroit kept living off of and focusing on was going to blow up. Did they pay attention, NO! Why; because in America; our big companies tend to focus on Profit 1st, Product 2nd. In a way, this had to be done just to keep up with the escalating costs mentioned above. Meanwhile, the rest of the worlds car companies, the Koreans and Japanese in particular, (with a few exceptions) have continued the course, kept there eye on what mattered; product, and kept building more efficient, higher quality, customer focused vehicles. Many of these other guys have factories here and there employees are happy, without the union, and even with healthcare cost issues. So, what gives? Well this would require more time and writing space than I have here right now. Overall, the situation is disgraceful and it could have been avoided.

Most Comprehensive analysis of the Situation the USA Auto MAnufacturers are in.

Self Inflicted

This BS about innocent people caught up in the middle means nothing to me, if you were comfy with Benefits you know are way better than you should have, then you should prepare yourself for early unemployment as the gravy train can not go on forever.

So long as people {CEO's or Line Workers} place themselves first and company second, the result will always be an Inneficient and Bankrupt Business.

So please enough of this Emotional BS on Innocent People in the Middle

Let them go to the wall, When the dust settles, others will buy up the scraps and set up (Hopefully) more profitable Auto Companies.

I think the people "caught in the middle" are the ones that run a restaurant near the factory, or a store or anybody who relied on the money that having a auto factory brings to an area. Those people have little to do with the auto unions and even less to do with the management of the companies. Yet they will be seriously affected as well.

I'm tired of the left lane sitters on the highway.

The law and basic principle of keeping right except to pass isn't hard to comprehend or abide by. Are these people oblivious or do they have the self-righteous "I'm doing 60mph in a 55mph and that is fast enough for everybody" attitude going on?

It drives me nuts and makes the highways more dangerous by bottling up traffic and forcing other drivers to pass on the right.

Every few days, if not more often I pull up behind someone in the left lane, who notices I'm there and moves over (keep in mind the right lane had been clear the whole time, for hundreds of yards in each direction). Then immediately after I pass, they move right back into the left lane! WHY! Why do these people need to be in the left lane?! Do they just want to be in the way of the next person?

Oh and I truly despise people that don't use their turn signals. I hate it so much that if I see someone beginning to change lanes in front of of me and they aren't using their turn signal I will go out of my way to cut them off, blaring the horn as I pass.

I would complain but it's hard. I am employed at a company that is doing well actually, job security is good for me at the moment. I make good salary. It only costs $24 to fill my tank from dead empty now that gas is down to $2.16. And I can still buy clothes and plan vacations for next year.

My only complaint would be my stock is down, but I'm 27 and have plenty of years left before that ends up being used. And by then the market will have surpassed the 20k mark, so I'm not worried.

Other than that, nope, no complaints. I get a raise next month and a promotion early next year to get an extra 10k a year in my pay. My gf is fantastic and we are happy together.

I try no to let the news bring me down although my big gripes are with Obama and his choices for staff and the fact that I agree with nothing that the man stands for. For me "Barack Obama is not my president."

no don't be sorry. The thing is that 009 decides whats posted the majority of the time. OOJ usually only posts on weekends and OO1 is posts alot sometimes then you don't see him for awhile. The thing is on average, and I have been taking notice, 009 posts around 3 audi articles a day either his own or other peoples. Its way more then any other car maker.

and yes i do agree bmw and audi get alot of threads, but 009 usually only posts good news about audi, and not BMW. For example BMW recently won the OKOGLOBE award for efficient dynamics..never posted, Brand new 6 series spy photos are out... never posted, but yet every review of the new A4 is somehow news worthy!?

Also only Audi motorsport garbage is posted on here, you never see articles about Honda's,Nissan's,Ferrari's,Toyota's,astons, mercs,
porsches,or Mazda's motorsport efforts.

"The site is not really Audi biased. They just cover Audi as well as BMW and Lexus."

Thats the thing it shouldnt just be these 3.

And S4 you are one of the fanboys you are just as bad as amazingbimmer, amazing only posted his opinion, and if someone responded he would reply, but you, if someone dosent like Audi, its a crime, theres no way audi can do no good.

Toyota and the others are very much dead right now is Audi and VW.

Ah, really? Do you see me going to BMW threads and saying "omg pos shit what a crap car stupid idiots build them and only poor people buy them. haha watch your neighbors laugh at you when you pull up in your leased 328i."

No... because I love BMW. I can't wait for the new Z4 M, because this week I have realized it might be the perfect vert for me. I get more defensive when I talk about Audi because there are so many haters on this site. But whenever I say something positive about BMW, I'm boosted to +100000. I guess that balances it out--Audi is the most reported, but BMW is the most loved (by posters).

I don't care if someone doesn't like Audi, that's their decision. But if they say so for no good reason, or for a false reason, I get angry. The only person I was really frustrated with was amazinBimmer, and maybe one other fanboy who trolls every once in awhile.

I also hate stupid traffic over here! The idiots planned it for 10 years ahead, 20 years ago, and now it's unlivable!

Last thing I want to mention is, I want a Maserati GT asap!

I HATE that some people down here think that if a car is a toyota it must be great! OMG there so many better cars but all they buy are toyota and the dealer sucks balls and is fing $$$$ Also people who don't buy cars from here cuz to them its too expensive but end up going to the US buy the car and ship it down here with no warranty etc to only cost more. Also I hate the damn cement trucks and all other construction vehicles on the road.

It's just refreshing not reading the usual Lexus vs. BMW drivel.

But we can't build cars people want!

The sad thing is we can do ANYTHING.

We just don't want to under the conventional wisdom because too many people at the top sold out the little guy for BIG BUCKS.

And the little guy LET it happen.

Equal blame all the way around.

I hate when you go to a dealership to check out a car, and you know A LOT MORE about the car than the guy selling it!
Also when you ask a question about a certain feature on the car the guy says "oh yeah this model has that" when you know damn well it doesn't!
