Butanol Could be a Much Better Gas Replacement Than Ethanol

If Butanol does not expel more thermal energy than gas and costs more to make it will never be a replacement.

There is a microbial process (not yet commercially available) which sucks CO2 out of the atmosphere while producing a gas that is further processed to make a butane-like fuel. Could it be that this is what the article is talking about?

I really don't care if gasoline alternatives cost more. The higher cost of a good alternative fuel will be offset by lower demand for gasoline which will have a dramatic lowering effect on current gasoline price.
