Audi A4L: A long-wheelbase A4 for China

Audi had the A6L before BMW introduced the 5 LWB in China.

You said it as if BMW started the trend. Nope, Audi started it. BMW copied them.

I don't think he was going for firsties...just commenting that in general it's kinda ridiculous to have these long wheel base models when they should just get the next bigger model. IMO, only the 7L, A8L, and S class makes sense.

china sells most of their cars to business. the big cars sell better in the German imports. They have their own small brands.

Sailor, maybe I just don't get what was funny. There is huge demand in China for these cars. The A6L is why Audi is so successful there. For some reason the Chinese LOVE the thing, it's the ultimate status symbol.

Audi actually makes the A6L exclusively for China after they built a plant there...it's rather big on the inside, considering that it's FWD with the engine pushed foward in the usual Audi fashion.

The A6L and 5 series LWB models make perfect sense for China. These are the vehicles for the people who prefer a large car with a good engine over a higher-scale car with a smaller engine that costs the same amount. This idea sells in China, and that's that.

Of course...when it comes to a LWB A4, then it gets stupid. Even in China's currency, the prices of lower-level cars get so close that the customers are simply left dumbfounded. I think everyone knows that.

You perhaps would be disppointed again that Volve will stretch its S80 this year for China though the model's long enough already. haha

110.6(in) normal wheelbase to 113.0(in) inch Long wheel base does not seem like that much of a stretch for this car LOL.

One would think a long wheel based sedan would be a good choice for Americans that don't really need an SUV or crossover.

Maybe they should call it the A6 ;)

no in china they prefer smaller size engines. The government charges high taxes on cars with an engine over 2.0L. You can buy a A6 1.8t in china

The regular A4 already is nearly the same size as A6. and now A4L, then what's the use of A6. A4 costs nearly the same, can get same options and engines and it looks better too than the A6. A4 killed A6.
