Refreshed S-Class Delayed Until April 2009?

It will have quad fog lights.

Actually the only models with quad fog lights will be the new E Sedan and E Coupe only if they are not equipped with the MB bi-xenon lighting package.

My sources tell me otherwise.

They're probably going to use that time to study the new BMW 7 series and improve on the S class. This is great, because right now I am torn between the new 7er, S class and the A8.

I'm not torn between the 3: I would like to have them all. Plus the Quattroporte, the Panamera, the Rapide and the DBS.
Any $$$ to spare, guys???

The 7 series dynamics looks like it will raise the bar which Im sure MB will be able to challenge effectively. Audi is reportedly putting a TT V-8 in the next A8

According to people who have actually driven them back-to-back, the new 7 is better-looking in person. And without the AMG package, the W221 (as amazing as it is) isn't as good-looking as the A8.

Dude, even though it still looks new and gorgeous, it's first MY of this current gen was a 2006. I think that MB does a new model every 7-8 years. So, a refresh every 3-4 or so years would make sense.

As long as they get rid of those 1st generation Ford Focus-inspired rear fender bulges, it'll be worth the wait...

Otherwise, the side/profile view will remain cringeworthy.

I admit that I haven't seen the new 7 in person (like the majority of the posters) but from what I have seen it is not as attractive as the current S Class.
I do like the new interior of the 7 but it still pales in comparison to the elegance of the S to me.
In response to S4, who's opinion I sometimes agree with, depending on color and wheels the S still looks very nice without the AMG package.

That's true, and I thought it was better-looking than the A8 last year, but the refreshed one has me drooling. There's something about it, it's just so perfect. Since it's such a rare treat compared to the S-Class I think it's more interesting to look at. The AMG-equipped S, though, is on par with the S8 in terms of pure hotness.

I haven't been fully impressed by the new 7 either, but from what I've read (people who have actually seen it), pictures don't do the car any justice. I thought the S was fugly before I saw it in person; same with the CL. Now I think they're some of the most attractive big cars on the road. I would kill for a CL63 AMG.

S4cabrio...

If you go for an A8 - get a CPO or face crushing depreciation. All these big cars depreciate but your new $86,000 A8 will be worth about $50,000 18 months later (check out what they're going for on Audi's CPO site and Ebay motors). Its really sobering.

S-550's and 7's depreciate too but not as bad as the A8.

I know, that's exactly what I would do, if I were in the market. Not so sure any more though.

In fact, if I was getting a big sedan right now it would be a CPO S8. So much more fun factor with a little dip in MPG compared to the A8.

Refreshing it already? I guess the German designers are finding their mistakes AFTER they're releasing their products these days.

The 7 series looks way better imo than the s class. I have seen the 7 at my local dealer for the last 14 days, and i like it.

I still haven't seen the new 7 series in the flesh, but I think it'll look much nicer than the S class. (something like a class above). I love what BMW did to the new 7, and Im looking forward to see it in person as most BMWs look much better in person.

I also haven't seen Full new 7 series, seen only rear half(LS460).
