Cutaway Shows The True Nuts And Bolts Of Acura's New NSX

Set to reach showrooms late next year, the new supercar will be as technologically advanced as the Nissan GT-R. It will target big-name rivals such as the Ferrari F430, Aston Martin V8 Vantage and Porsche 911 GT3.

Where its predecessor had a mere 280bhp from its 3.0-litre V6 engine, the new model features a 5.5-litre V10 delivering 560bhp. This increased power is transferred via a six-speed semi-auto box, with steering wheel-mounted paddleshifters.

As a result, the car should cover 0-60mph in less than four seconds and hit a near-200mph top speed.

The rest of it looks like a cross between a Jag XF and a little mini C hatchback Mercedes.

When will Acura finally design an attractive car? Supercars are supposed to be sexy (Ferrari or Aston Martin) or brutal (Lamborghinis, GT-R) looking. This just looks odd, especially with that corporate beak.

91z, I must respectfully disagree. Obviously beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I never liked that wedge shape and those odd creases running up the sides.

that car is hot I think this is the only other one I could get past the beak besides the MDX. I think this car will be a very tough competitor (bone stock) w/o modifications. put me down for one!!!!

5.5-litre V10 delivering 560bhp and more advanced and powerful than GT-R, i think that will make it faster than not only F430, GT3...etc but also the bigger 599 and GT2. Good job Honda but the front end especially headlights and grille could be made more stylish.

If this is the next NSX this is hideous imo. I've been a Honda/Acura fan, however their designs from the 2000 and on are just not up to standards of the designs of the 90's. This design doesn't look like a super car. It looks like a replacement of the CL

this looks more like a prelude replacement, than a supercar, its not ugly, but seriously a supercar??? they should have stuck with the hsc concepts mid engine desighn like the original nsx, now those 2 cars looked exotic

on a side note im curious to see what other car will share this engine, and platform as im sure Honda wont just be using it for the nsx, maybe the new RL, or another sports coupe maybe

Acura design staff fails again. They can't even pen a exciting looking supercar. The red flags should be waving all over Honda. Once again another Acura with out orignal lines.

Aston and Ferrari? there's delusions of grandeur. I insure you all, not one buyer of Ferrari or Aston will consider the car. Porsche 911, BMW M6, the ZR1 vette and GTR buyers perhaps, but not the real supercar buyers.

The best car that I ever drove was my friends NSX! It was also his favorite! His Ferrari spent most of it;s time in the shop $$$$ and he has had Porsche's too, the NSX just handles so well.Although this NSX could use a beak job. Aside from performance you have to know that it will be reliable.

The NSX may have low hp for today, but when the car came out 1991 the NSX was very comprable to it's competitors 280hp for NA engine was very good compared to the Supra and 300ZX that had 300hp turbo.

I would still pick up the old NSX compared to this new design
