I remember any number of these 'niche' vehicles from when I lived in Japan, and I still don't really understand how lifting a conventional 5-door sedan/hatch an inch or two makes them anything particularly special.

I find this thing not only horribly unattractive, but rather over-priced, ungainly, and an answer to a question no one asked.

this certainly wasnt asking for. but toyota is marking this vehicle under "car" instead of SUV. so it still might sell. i hear if you actually sit in it, it "makes sense"
