LA AUTO SHOW: 2009 Nissan 370Z pricing announced

Nissan has officially taken the covers off of the new 2009 Nissan 370Z - the first full redesign of the Nissan Z since its introduction in 2003. We already know that power will come from a 3.7L VQ37VHR engine with VVEL (Variable Valve Event and Lift) that makes 332-hp with a maximum torque of 270 lb-ft.

What we learned today from the live reveal of the 370Z is that the engine will be available with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard and a 7-speed automatic with paddle shifters as an option. Estimated fuel-economy for the 2009 Nissan 370Z come in at 18/26 mpg (city/highway) for both the 7-speed automatic and the 6-speed manual.

Not junk but it will not sell as well as 350Z because of the starting price. This is what killed the previous wave of Japanese sports cars in the 90s because of higher and higher $$$. Starting price of $26K would have been perfect.

The Average japanese sports cars were price in the 40,000 mark in the 90's while the average consumer cars were price at 15,000. Now that the average consumer vehicle is price at 30,000 I believe this car is well in line with the market. Now keep in mind all the new safety standards that are now available...i.e. 6 airbags,tire pressure monitors,and weight sensors for the front passengers.

I keep them in mind, I have them in my 03 350z. Airbags were an option (came with the heated leather of the touring) TPMS came standard on everything but the base, same as the wight sensors.
I love my car, have loved it since I bought it. Will continue to love it. Might get one of these to keep it company in my garage. 30K for this kind of car. Bargain!

the design brief on this one is the closest they've gotten to the original 240 in quite a while. looks like they've found the sweet spot in terms of performance, value and styling.
