Saab 9-6x patent photos
The forums of Saab are alive with talks about the lately filed GM patents showing off pictures of a Saabified Subaru Tribeca which looks like a four door variant of a design mock up unofficially photographed in 2005. The curious part is the imaginary Saab 9-6X stole much of its design and styling from the Subaru Tribeca, even though GM separated from the Japanese car manufacturer soon after the original spy photos.

These reports are current, dated as of November 4, 2008, so it’s not like they’ve been here for a long time. It’s also likely the web is in the course of getting thwarted by some photoshopper who thinks it’s funny. If authentic it would be a substitute for the 9-7X which is about to be retired with a close down of a plant.

I thought Saab was going to develop their own SUV and not re-badge another make? Haven't they learned from the dismal sales of the 97x and the 92x?

I think Saab and Opel should get together and engineer some cars with their joint resources. I know they share developments, engines, drive trains... etc., now, but how about working together to design and engineer specific models? Like, maybe a joint compact / mid-size SUV instead of rebadging a Subaru? I think between Opel and Saab, they could make some great cars.
