Were the designers specifically instructed not to use anything resembling a French/Bezier curve tool when penning this thing?

Both the exterior and interior are little more than a mass of completely unrelated straight lines running in all manner of directions.

I won't even comment on the odd proportions with that freakishly long hood and tiny greenhouse.

I'm sure that some will find it appealing on some level, but I'm certainly not one of them... Especially not at anywhere near 40K.

it's supposed to take styling clues from the original G-Modell, which is why it is boxy and not curvy. Want curvy? Get the ML

agree looks like Subabru Forster. too high for a station wagon and not round enough to be a normal looking SUV. Confusing lines and proportions, it's something in the middle.
Overall MB tried to be differnt with GLK but the car ended up looking abnormal and bland.

To me EX35, LR2 are miles better in design, even X3.

In terms of bang the buck, the EX35 definitely leads (it's Japanese after all). However, I would say the GLK is better than the LR2 in quality, and much much better than the X3 in terms of price (4-6k difference for base). I'm not sure how the GLK drives though...

The GLK is unique and that is what I like about its styling. The X3 is completely bland in my opinion and the Q5, as elegant as it is, looks like a miniature Q7. Audi design has become too predictable. The GLK on the other hand looks interesting and sporty and premium. I will definitely be checking it out once it hits stateside.
