Nissan and Infiniti Pull Out of 2009 Detroit and Chicago Auto Shows

The star of the L.A. Auto Show? Now I wouldn't go that far...I actually enjoyed the BMW stand much better...and the Audi display was stunning.

the BMW and Audi didn't chance anything from last year's LA AUTO show. same place, same set up.
I somehow like toyota's better, they get some nice ladies singing for their hybrid, and they are very good.

I was never sure about Detroit because importers rarely sell anything locally. If anything, they are in Motor City because it gets their unveilings in the news. But Chicago? So the market is down, but by being absent, sales will continually decline and in turn only justify the absence.

The #1 car in Chicago & Detroit is the Dodge Stratus, and I'm serious.

After all we've been through, I still love my dear town in the deep suburbs of LA.

Who cares which stand was the best? It's irrelevant. Heck, I liked the Kia stand! IT WAS THE BEST!

That is so sad if more companies start dropping out than the only stands left will be the food stands.

Those midwesterners sure do love fudge on a stick I was shocked to see the size of the fudge, it was like the size of a brick!!

WorldofLuxury, what hardships has LA gone through the past 4 years?

This is the one bright spot in Michigan winter, and now I don't even want to go. This was first chance for many to see G37 convertible, new Z, along with many other car lines that pulled out.

The first time I saw Ferrari was at NAIAS when I was 6 years old, and it was a fond memory. You need to think what this means to Detroit. We already have to suffer on Thanksgiving watching the Lions play, now this is even worse.

Most people do their initial car shopping at the auto show, then make purchases later in the year when they hit showrooms. This is another hit to Detroit/Michigan economy. You bring people in to see the high end fancy cars, but while they're there it gives them chance to look at the new malibu/camry/STRATUS they will actually buy in the future.

nissan/infiniti usually does there intros, in LA and NY anyway.

I wasn't particularly excited to see Nissan/Infiniti, but now that I think about it the 370Z will be missed. Odd that they're pulling out of Chicago, but even weirder that they're out of Detroit.
