Vw’s city car coming earlier than we expected
Volkswagen is accelerating the development of a cost effective latest two-seater city vehicle. In its most frugal form, the new Vw will bring back a segment-leading 141mpg and a lowered emission of less than 60g/km of CO2 and, take note, all without hybrid drive.

The three-door hatchback is scheduled to compete with the Smart and Toyota iQ. It is stoutly hinted by insiders at Vw that this new vehicle will be named Chico in keeping with a Vw concept car way back in ‘91, and will be the entry level Vw , below the Up! The projected cost could go as little as €7,100 ($9,195) when it becomes available for sale in 2011 in the UK.
