Porsche upgrades horsepower on the 2006 Carrera S

If you'd like more horsepower on your 2006 Carrera S you're in luck.

As predicted, Porsche is making the power kit available to other Carrera owners outside of the special club edition.

It's called the X51 'Carrera' power kit and pops horsepower up to 381hp.

It's only available on the S model.

Price for the option is $16,900

Big claim you make there e-s-f----for fun, let's compare the Carrera to the RS4 (Surely there isn't another Audi you'd try to reference against Porsche). Let's see, a base Carrera is 69,300. The RS4 is expected to price out somewhere around 80K according to most recent test drives (obviously that's still up in the air, but there is no way the RS4 will go for less than 75K)---so much for the price argument.

As for performance, the Carrera hits 0-60 in 4.8, RS4 0-62 in 4.8, and the difference truly becomes more apparant in the handling department----quattro is nice, but it isn't going to make up for a 600 lb weight difference.

Sure Audi is a nice car, but the RS4 is simply not the performance bargain of the century----you need to wake up and realize that there are brands out there that *gasp* do some things better than Audi.
