Vw Scirocco R20T to replace the Scirocco R32

Only time will tell when Volkswagen starts providing a hotter, harder model of the new Scirocco, and according to CAR, the top of the range three-door will be equipped with the same 265-hp, 2.0-liter turbo as the Audi S3. The Vw Scirocco R20T will be greatly influenced by the Scirocco GT24 racer that competed at the Nurburgring early this year, but not including the vented hood, enormous rear wing and tougher front splitter. The acceleration to 60 is attained in less than six seconds and a ceiling speed of 155 mph (250 km/h) is almost guaranteed.

Good move. I was never convinced that the 3.2L VR6 (in any form) was worth the extra weight or complexity.
