Ford at the top of the list for safety in accidents

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has recently made available its yearly list of vehicles that had gained the agency’s popular ‘Top Safety Pick’ honor, showing that some key milestones had been realized. According to Adrian Lund, president of the IIHS, “Top Safety Pick winners are the top performers in tough front, side, and rear crash tests, and they have electronic stability control, a crucial technology that can help drivers avoid many crashes altogether.”

Although Ford is at the top of the list which included 16 of its vehicles, the actual celebrations would have been taking place over at Acura. The first-rate Honda auxiliary got a ‘Top Safety Pick’ for all the vehicles in its range, while the entire Honda group only achieved to get 13 of its vehicles into the safety list. One prominent brand missing from the list was Lexus, which together with Infiniti, discovered many of its vehicles’ head and seat restraints were not sufficient to attain the award.

Uh...You forgot something Ford is more reliable than Toyota and more reliable than the Germans too so you won't break down on the side of the road. Congratulations Ford and yes it couldn't be done without Volvo.

jt, your thinking of initial quality. 5 yrs down the road is still unknown and my guess would be that it would not come close to toyota.

Well let me clarify that for you the recent Ford models from 2006 till present have been ultra reliable and I would know this because I do own one and it goes for its regular service and hasn't given us a single problem its only 3 years old but what crap it goes through on this island is definitely more than what cars in the US go through. Why don't you check consumer reports or other sources all say the recent Fords are definitely on par with the Japanese and if not better in reliability. I may be a little biased but I am not blind because give props to Ford for trying and that is why they are the best performing out of the Big 3

Well, I think you're describing what Ford is. I think if they inject some of the performance versions of their small cars, like the Focus RS or whatever they get in Europe, it would expand their market to a different, non-Mustang type of enthusiast.

My regular Focus SES is surprisingly fun to drive, for what it is. I'd love to be able to get a Euro version and see how that is.

Yep, my Insurance is Dirt Cheap on my New Town Car!

Oh yea, I have a $1M Liability Coverage and the Car is registered in New York, a state known for the highest cost Insurance rates in the US. So big savings for me.

Ford’s Triple 5-Star Crash Rating not only makes me feel safe and secure, but also helps immensely with my household budget.

Ford has always led the way on Safety, like the Energy Absorbing Steering Column of the 70s, so it is not surprising to me.
