Chrysler says 2011 Charger and 300 will pass fuel-economy standards

Chrysler says that the next-generation Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger that are due for the 2011 model year will exceed the tougher fuel-economy standards that will take effect in two years. Frank Klegon, Chrysler’s executive vice president of product development, says that the two 2011 models will beat the industry-wide average of 31.6 mpg by 2015.

“These vehicles will be CAFE-positive,” Klegon told Automotive News. “The U.S government has not released regulations for the new corporate average fuel economy law, we think we know what it is.”

Drafting behind an 18 wheeler going 55mph does not count to get 31.6 mpg. The only way is to discontinue both models.

I traded my "always in the shop bimmer" for a 2009 300 and could not be happier. Great looks, rides fantastic, hemi power and 20-22 mpg on the highway.

My Chrysler 300 is already an econo-box with an underpowered V6 engine.

Dual clutch Transmissions would be big news.

Building with more plastic to reduce weight is just a cheap and dirty way to do business.

a great comment....I guess you want to see 200,000 people un-employed...you drive a GM Tahoe?. that's nice, too bad you don't support all american brands...Chrysler will survive and come back stronger than ever..
