Audi anticipates record sales in 2008

Many of the automakers have been placed on the edge with regards to their finances due to the global economic downturn, but Audi, the German luxury brand, is anticipating having one more year of excellent growth. Audi vehicles are projected to surpass one million units this year, and from this figure it would seem that Audi’s aim of vending 1.5 million vehicles by the year 2015 is well within their grasp.

Audi’s quite discreet CEO Rupert Stadler discussed the impacts that the global economic crisis has had on Audi with Automotive News Europe, and in spite of its success for this year he underscored that the circumstances has affected everyone in one way or another. Pointing on Audi’s success because of its young model range, which comprises of the new Q5 SUV and a large number of other niche versions, Stadler was proud of the company’s assortment of vehicles that were proving to be well-liked among buyers even during a market slump.

No they are not delusional but smart. Globally they are extremely well. The US is only a hiccup for them. They will exceed profit from last year while their competitors will suffer serious profit downturns as have already been noted.

it seems as if the new a-4 is not off to a such a great start as audi would have liked.. there is inventory building up and there seems to be something lacking in the new exterior - can't quite put my finger on it. don't see them on the streets - is it price or somewhat drab design?

Agreed audi needs to have more flash in there options on launch cars. that being said expect the Premium / sport car to be a good option car and it looks GOOOOD

Worldwide sales are up by something ridiculous like 10 or 12%. That's a 100K+ increase--over a million for the first time.

davide, how do you know inventory of the new A4 is building up? First it just went on sale in November. So far that is less than a month an half of sales with close to 7000 units moved already. So, how do you back-up that statement with factual data. Audi currently is running one of the lowest inventories in the US. But even so, your statement sounds a bit more a like a fanboy remark then anything based on fact. Worldwide the new A4 is selling extremely especially throughout Europe exceeding expectations. And that is a fact bore out by actual numbers and not some rhetoric of an anti-Audi fanboy. So stop with the BS. In LA, almost every other entry premium car is an A4 with plenty of new ones.

viso - well i say new introduction hype but still down 32% for the new a-4 compared with last years model ... hymmmmmm
the numbers speak for themselves - and guess what - L.A. does not set the standard for the rest of usa - sorry.
