Chinese Buyers Say If The American 3 Go Under, They Will Simply Buy More German Cars

Of 6,442 Chinese consumers who take the survey conducted by the Beijing Youth Daily and Souhu.com, 56.42% of them say they will not buy a US brand car if the Big Three giants go into bankruptcy.

About questions as to what they will buy instead, 50.37% of interviewees say they prefer a German brand car, 21.96% choose Chinese brand cars while another 20.62% will buy Japanese-brand cars. The remaining buyers go to South Korean and French brand cars.

This is only a wish, the Chinese doesn't have the money to buy the "real" German cars (ie. Mercedes, BMW, Audi).

Also, the sales reality shows something else: only VW brand has real sales force. And VW is like the Mazda of the Japanese.

So if Ford will not produce the Focus any more, don't get the idea (from this article) that they will buy the BMW 3 instead... I bet it will be the polo/jetta (without the navigation, airbags, etc.)

For some odd reason, China does not like Japan, so I doubt they would move to Infiniti. Not really about which one is better. They would just stick with the American or German cars.

GM, "Wats dat? I raff I ruse?" China, "Exactry. You raff you ruse."

China has a win win against GM. We buy you out or we dont buy your cars. Very little amount of people would purchase a car from a company going under in general.

maybe things are different in canada, but in calif. and far more so in hawaii, 1st and 2nd generation asian-americans are the ones most likely to buy american brands. later generations far more likely to buy japanese and/or german.

Performanceguy, The chinese hate japanese because of what the japanese did to them during the war. IMO given a choice between buying a toyota or a yugo, the chinese will choose to buy the Yugo just because of this.

how do you account for the thousands (millions?) of jewish people who buy german cars? historically germany treated jews FAR WORSE than the japanese did chinese.

Chinese= you screw them once, they'll remember it forever. As in generations down.
