Once again, BMWBlog is coming through for their readers. From the official 2009 BMW Z4 catalog, here is a teaser photo with the new Z4.
Yesterday, we saw the first real photo of the 09 Z4 at a BMW dealership and I mentioned that within days we will get more photos released.

I like it as well.....seems like a little shrunken 6 and did I say hard top and the twin turbo V6 engine - I LOVE IT.....All we have to see if how it stands up to that new 370Z based infiniti....Heard/Read somewhere that it prolly will be a hard top conv. too with 7 gear auto-manual tranny.....I like where competition is taking this ;-)

Not much of a tech geek if you think this will have a V6

well the sailor he actually is right, there have been several articles discussing an infiniti based on the 370Z in other words on its exact size and platform architecture....in turn that would mean it were based on the G37, but thats neither here nor there. The point is that they are working on an infiniti variant of the 370

Certainly a stylistic step in the right direction, though (personally) I still find the hood disproportionately long when compared to the trunk/boot, which makes the entire vehicle a bit aesthetically awkward/unbalanced IMO.

I agree it looks very Viperish. Is BMW running out of ideas these days?

That previous pic wasn't at a dealership- it was on the set where they are filming the intro video (just like they did with the X1 recently).

I like it, it has classic roadster proportions, and nice lines, looks classy and sophisticated. Makes the TT look bloated.

So this is a hardtop convertible now right? Good move, considering the Miata is already a hardtop convertible.

Well.... this definitely exceeded my expectations. It looks incredible and has such perfectly athletic/aggressive proportions.

Sexy roadster!

Very nice looking. But the doorhandles should have been like on the other models. Other than that it looks perfect from behind, hope it looks just as good from the front.

Very good design. It finally has returned to a more smooth lined roadster like the Z3 was than the harsh edged, ugly original Z4. It looks like a mini 6-series.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V6

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inline-6

Basically in a V6 the pistons are laid out in a V formation (3 each side, if looked at from the front), where as an I6 is in a straight line (all 6 pistons in a row), and so looks a bit like an I from the front.

+1+1 For the question on the I-6. I already knew the difference but its nice to seem humbleness on this site.

One of the more famous I-6 cars is probably the Jeep 4.0L that was in the Cherokee, Grand Cherokee Laredo, and Wrangler. Bullet proof motor that ran forever. An I6 engine in itself is very reliable.

SLK killer?

As if the SLK is at the top of its class. Hopefully, it's a Boxster killer.
