Ecotricity planning wind-propelled electric vehicle based on Lotus Exige
Eco-friendly electricity supplier Ecotricity has been vending green electricity for over ten years now, but its originator Dale Vince has determined to take on a grander venture, which is to make a sports car that is both attractive and wind-propelled electric. At present, Vince is laboring with a crew of engineers and developers a total conversion of a Lotus Exige coupe.

The present improvements on the vehicle can be viewed on the blog of Vince, Zerocarbonista, and also at the present time the Exige has been undressed and its chassis has been lengthened. The compartment for the 96 batteries has also been developed, and manufacture of large parts such as the transmission are being done, while other parts of the car have already been installed.

That is really cool. I've been wondering for a while how come noone has had the idea to put wind generators in cars? The only problem with wind generators is that you need constant wind, and when a car drives you have constant wind. Great to see someone is making that idea reality.

Sailboaters have been doing the windmill idea for years now. Solar panels as well. They only use their geny when they need to.

Ok, so I've got an idea. Has anyone thought of a way to capture suspension movement and convert it to electricity, perhaps an inductive damper (or springs) or something? I'm just thinking that all that suspension movement happens, and it's just energy going to waste.....
