Bob Lutz Offers To Sacrifice Himself To Keep Wagoner In Charge Of GM
These are somber, serious economic times — but it’s still hard to hang up from a 10-minute phone chat with Bob Lutz without chuckling.

“If Congress wants a sacrifice, it should be me,” Lutz declared this afternoon, as he defended his boss, General Motors Corp. CEO Rick Wagoner.

“I’m older,” Lutz said. “And I’ve made politically incorrect remarks about global warming, so it should be me.”

LUTZ IS DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE for the HUGE Chevy VOLT disaster. He is the one who CONTINUES to shelter Chevy's incompetent, overpaid design team (the idiots who posed with their stupid Volt). THE DESIGNERS ARE THE FAILURES! Take the Volt, for example -- THESE ARE THE IDIOTS WHO FAILED to deliver on that showcar's simple expectation of ATTRACTIVENESS!!

BURN LUTZ, BURN!!!

Lutz is the primary reason for the new Cadi CTS-V and the new Malibu / Malibu Hybrid...among other notable GM vehicles...and he wants to sacrifice himself for Wagoner! WTF!!

Lutz is just one of the "good old boys". Show him the money and he'll bark as loud as you want.

What a tool!

Get rid of Lutz and Wagoner.

Let's see here-

The Caddy CTS-V is as fast as the $200k Ferrari California.

The Chevy Malibu is more reliable than the Accord and the Camry.

The Chevy Volt will be a smash hit.

The Corvette ZR1 is as fast as the $300k Ferrari 599.

Fire the UAW and tell them to go to hell on Christmas morning!

Better off to get rid of both "IDIOTS" instead of one...LMAO!!! And EL34, with your list of accolades, none of them has not really put a dent on any of their rivals...as for the Volt, they will not be competing with only the Toyota Prius but a whole other rivals brands capable of out performing the Volt...the only difference between the Prius vs any other hybrid/electric rivals, is that Prius has a long list of reliabilty/potential capabilities...everybody else including the Volt has yet to prove a point in the real world...interesting to see the kind of recalls they will be pulling outta their ass!!!....LMAO!!!

The point is if GM does not get rid of their other useless rebadge brands, the list you mention EL34 will just be cannalbalized. They will not surpass their target volumes in certain segments, too prove a point, if their other brands are in the way. And it took GM this long to figure out on how to at least become competitive in the mid size sedan segment? A little too late especailly that segment today is that much more competitive in price, quality, and fuel efficiency. Toyota and Honda are in a league of their own...as for GM they have to start thinking long term, and kill the short term B.S....the only brand I see coming over the top at the end of the day, is Ford and only Ford. The rest is history the way I personally see it...and of coarse I am talking "Long Term"... ;-)

Yes Bob Lutz is probably the reason GM hasn't already gone bankrupt, but he appears to be a Yes Man by saying he should go instead of Wagoner. Did he get a better offer somewhere else, did Wagoner offer to give him a golden parachute? Either way, let Lutz go along with Wagoner since he wants to act like Wagoner's lapdog. Before those comments I had a lot of respect for Lutz and I thought the two of them had GM heading in the right direction, but could only do so much with those UAW contracts holding 'em back

I hear your point...but it obviously did not "MAKE ANY MONEY!!!"...remember they are asking for Billions b/c they admit they messed up...that is quite the pill to swallow on its' own...
