Now Tell Me That Audi Didn't Copy The Bangle Butt With The 2010 A7?

The long, low four-door Audi A7 has been spied testing in Germany ahead of its launch in 2010.

The Audi A7 will slot into the range below the A8 and above the A6, providing Audi with a rival for the Mercedes-Benz CLS.

Our spy pictures show the A7’s size and sleek styling, especially around the rear, where the car has a high rear deck and a low, steeply raked rear roof line. The coupé-style lines help to disguise the car’s bulk; it’s 4.8m long.

Underneath the unusual bodyshell is the platform that will form the basis of the next A6, itself not due until 2011. The A7 is a variant of Audi’s Modular Longitudinal Platform, which was first used in the new A4 and A5.

Looks like Chris Bangle has been doing some moonlighting at Audi.

OK 009. Audi did not copy the Bangle butt.

The rear of the car is so heavily camouflaged it's impossible to make out the details.

What? How is this a Bangle Butt. And who'd want to copy that anyway?

Looks more like a hatch to me. It could also be a ton of camo making it look bigger.

Either way, I see zero resemblance to the 2002 7 Series and its original Bangle butt.

I know that I might get deboosted and negative feed back but can someone explain what a "bangle butt" is?

I always hear it being used but just cant figure it out.

The "bangle butt" is the result of BMW's chief designer Chris Bangle, where the trunk lid is exaggerated to the point that it makes the rear of the car look disproportionate....Bulbous I guess is the best word to use.

It's Von Hoydonk that should have his pencils taken away.. Bangle always gets the bad wrap.

That's pretty bad, it does look very Volvo-ish.

That's a shame, I did like some of the early A7 renderings.
