BAD IN BLACK? First Photos At The New BMW 7-Series Wearing Black
As you know, we've had the ultimate photo gallery showing off the new BMW 7-Series since early October but the ONE photo I wanted to get, isn't in there.

We show the car in a number of colors but unfortunately not in the color this car was made to be painted in...BLACK!

So here are the first shots I've seen of it in black.

And it does NOT disappoint!

Gorgeous!

This black beauty is also wearing some nice Hartge wheels.

Also, if you haven't seen the full gallery yet, here is another link to it.

Is it me or are the headlights very similar to the Volvo S80? (I know I am going to get deboosted for this)

Check out the last generation 7 series, the 5 series, the X6, and the 3 series coupe. This is BMW's design direction. The Volvo S80's headlights resemble Audi more than anything.

I don't like the rims, but this design is really growing on me. I'm looking forward to seeing it in person so I can make my final judgement.

I was with you on this until I saw it in person...and drove it. Let me tell you, the pics do not do it justice. I had the chance to see both the regular and long wheelbase. What really got me is that it's simply not a stretched car, the L that is. The roofline, arch etc are unique to both. The previous, and most SWB/LWB vehicles share height, furthest most rear window etc but not this 7. I hope this makes sense...

I'm an Audi fan at heart but this thing did it for me.

the picture of the full car makes the hood area look way to long and not in proportion to the rest of the vehicle. for the 7 series to look its best, you really gotta get the L

Like every 7 series before it, looks best in black.

Good photos!

However, If you want to know how impressive this combo really is, go to a BMW configuration website and "configure" a 7-Series in Sapphire Black/high-gloss dechrome/Black Exclusive leather/"20" inch alloys!

Enough said!

It's a real grower, car looks better everytime i see it. I had the opportunity to drive the 750li the other day - simply amazing!! It's soooo smooth and yet so incredibly quick.

Looks awesome...kind of a blend of last two 7's IMO. Wouldn't mind seeing the rear 3/4 view (and without those awful rims). I'm sure BMW will sell well even in down US economy - hopefully the "stock" rims will look better!

Agreed. It looks entirely out of proportion. I actually think the rest of the car is okay, but that nose is goofy. And Hartge really needs to learn how to pick better wheels. They suck.

My personal preference...Sat in this thing and the S Class at the car show...Didn't want to get out of the 7 series..end of story

It really does look good in black.Chris Bangle also stated that BMWs look better in dark colors.

I have seen quite a few on the roads now and one in a neighbouring showroom. All were silver or white. I agree with most the car looks better than in the pictures and has nice presence. I like it.
But in pure beauty, S class and LS are still ahead imo, even the refreshed Audi A8.

But 7 series is very good no doubt and in this balck colour it looks even better.

This segment is filled with great cars and it should because of the price tag. Can't exactly go wrong with any of these. Premium and refinement comes with all of these cars.

when this car first came out I was skeptical about it but now from concept to now this thing is HOT!!!!!..yeah it doesnt have all that body cladding like the new S-class but I think this is going to hold its own for the next 6-7 years. PLEASE INFORM ME WHEN ALPINA DOES THE NEW B7 thats my favorite sports sedan HANDS DOWN.

I'm imagining it with the M6's five-spoke rims, and I'm also sold. I never thought I'd call a 7 Series sexy again, but this is. I'm actually a little too anxious to wait for the AWD version; I want one right when it hits the US!

Fortunately, they kept the hood low and horizontal near the greenhouse, so the front end looks longer. Unfortunately, the greenhouse could qualify as a skyscraper. Also, the B-pillar looks like it came from a Camry. I like that they gave it relatively large wheels without flaring the wells. Makes it looks more serious, less cartoonish.
