Aston Martin Rapide: First official images (renderings) released
While the failure of Senate to pass the auto bailout for the Big 3 may be some depressing news to many this morning we’re excited to show your the first official pictures of the upcoming production version of the Aston Martin Rapide.
While these may be pretty basic computer renderings - they are our first look at the production version of the Rapide that will arrive by the summer of next year.
Looks a lot better than its rival - Porsche Panamera; however, we think that Lamborghini did the best job at an uber-luxurious four-door with their Estoque Concept.

How can Porsche believe that the Panamera can compete with this?

I don't think people will cross shop these too cars mate 'cos they are in totally different leagues when it comes to pricing although they are listed as 4-door coupes.
I see your point 'cos while the Porsche looks flat out UGLY this thing isn't an eyesore

They don't, how can people believe Porsche is positioning the Panamera to compete with this? Mark my words, the Porsche will be less than half the price--perhaps even a third of the price.

As opposed to Aston not doing their own things and going the Not-Ugly route? I just saw these pics and then went to the pics of the Panamera...Need4Speed is right. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but ugly is as ugly does.

the funny thing about the lamborghini is that it will be based on the Audi A6/A7(which in turn are based on the entry level A4) but probably cost 3-4 times as much .....for me the Rapide doesnt compete with these cars it is a 4 door version of an ultra luxury GT, both the panemera and estoque are based on much cheaper models. Not in the same league as the Aston Martin at all.........

"the funny thing about the lamborghini is that it will be based on the Audi A6/A7(which in turn are based on the entry level A4)"

Wrong on all counts. Lamborghini hasn't said anything about what it will be based on; my guess is a stretched Gallardo/R8 platform, similar to how Aston bore the Rapide from the DB9.

The A6 and A7 also have nothing to do with the A4. It's like saying the 7 Series is based on the 3 Series; what are you even talking about???

Sinister and gorgeous, I can dig that. The Panamera's worst nightmare as far as I'm concerned. Porsche is in for a rude awakening.

Awesome car. i just dont like bright chrome trim, it would be better as a high gloss black or a black chrome. it would make it more evil and aggressive looking. should be an option, even on the DBS.

The Porsche turned out better than what I had expected, but the Aston wins easily.

What's the price difference supposed to be between the two?

Why are people comparing this to the Panamera? The only reason they were initially pitted against each other is because while Porsche was building up hype for the sedan, AM brought out the Rapide concept. THEY WILL NOT COMPETE WITH EACH OTHER. The Rapide will occupy a super high end part of the market alongside the Rolls-Royce Phantom and new Bentley Arnage; it will be a sportier alternative, and perhaps less expensive. The Panamera will be a Quattroporte/S8/S-Class AMG competitor.

How can people compare an Aston with a Porsche, it's like comparing the Ritz with a Holiday Inn. Aston wins everytime!
