STUD. But the price starting from mid-40k... err... let me consider Boxster.

1) love the more subtle and smooth exterior
2) like how the interior is up to standard with its much more premium looking cabin
3) love the taillights
4) love the front end
5) love the hard top folding roof.

"But the price starting from mid-40k... err... let me consider Boxster."

1. The Z4 has always been a Boxster competitor so that's nothing new. Do you really expect a BMW roadster to be under $40,000?

2. You can only get a Boxster in the $40,000s with no options... it can go over $60K surprisingly easily.

1. The Z4 has been wanna be a competitor to Boxster. If you really think they are, better add Nissan Z and S2000 in the competition.
The current Z4 starts from mid-30k.
2. Base Z4 doesn't have much of option either.

"1. The Z4 has been wanna be a competitor to Boxster. If you really think they are, better add Nissan Z and S2000 in the competition.

It's the closest competition to the Boxster on the market. Closest in price besides the TT, and obviously closest in performance.

The current Z4, which starts at $36,700 for the 3.0i, is not positioned in the same way as the Boxster. The base Z4 has a 225hp inline six. That isn't comparable to any Boxster engine--the Z4 3.0si, however, is. It has a 265hp inline six, putting it right above the base Boxster. It undercuts it in price by several grand but it's still the closest competition available.

"2. Base Z4 doesn't have much of option either."

Of course, but a loaded Z4 3.0si roadster (with all the Packages and Options but none of the Accessories according to BMWUSA) is $55,350. Compare this to the Porsche Boxster, which when equipped very similarly, can be had for just over $71,000.

Excuse me, the Z4 3.0si has 255hp, exactly the same as the Boxster.

Stunning. I can't believe BMW have actually been able to create a sexy looking car that doesn't have any aspects wrong with it. I also think the sDrive35i (what a mouthful!) with the DCT will do 0-60 faster than the quoted 5.0 seconds.

Absolutely, they're just trying to distance it from the M cars. It will probably be able to run with an M3 sedan.

Although the interior still looks cheap(Look at those stereo button, R U kidding me?), it's a improvement over last generation at least.

I hope the weight stays in 3000 lb, but that's probably impossible. Now only the turboed engine can save it. Now we'll see what HONDA can come up with the S3000.

Cheap R U kidding? What other roadster in its class has a leather dash and sunroof option with sun reflective technology. Those “stereo buttons” are the same as you would find in the new X5 and the brand new 7er, both interiors have been universally praised. Not to mention a Varity of real wood options in the car. What other can in this class has a better interior?

Rats "sunroof option" should read extend leather.

obviously you have not sat inside and s2000 or a z4, as even the current z4 is way ahead of the s2000 and this new one looks like on par with the new 7.

the only roadster interior that is better than current z4 is the boxter interior and this new one looks better than both.

NISSAN GT-R also has leather dash and so does it look like a Ferrari then? Look at those uneven stitch, it's better off BMW doesn't throw it in. Again, those buttons look cheaper than my 2003 E46 3, and too bad if those buttons are also in current X5 and 7 series.

Maybe that's why S always outsells 7, isn't it?

?

When the E65 7 Series came out it was outselling the instantly outdated W220 S-Class. When the W221 came out it outsold the 7 Series. It's a leapfrog game. The new prettier, faster and more luxurious 7 will outsell the S-Class.

Sanity safely returns to the BMW styling department. I'd say it this rate they will make a full recovery to where they left off, pre-Bangle, in a few more years.

Even the headlights almost make sense here.

I think they are sticking with anything coupe derived i.e. X6 ends in an even number. The new Z4 does look bigger than the old one, but that's because they will be fitting a smaller Z2 in based on the 1-series which should be interesting.

The only serious flaw I can find so far is its porky looks like the Twin Turbo auto weighs in a 4178 lbs. but still does 0-60 in 5.1 Seconds

The optional stereo is interesting 16 speakers (14 + 2 subwoofers) at 650 watts.

looks lake a huge upgrade in size and interior quality (with lots of new 7 influence), can quality and attention to details looks at least equal to 6 series.

Seems like price will be up. i was hoping to get one in 2009, but a new 2nd car will have to wait till atleast 2010. until then my 335i M Sport will have to do :)

They added a lot of new options, probably because they wanted to keep base price low (like the new M3).

I have a feeling, a fully load sDrive35i with DCT+EDC+premium stereo+nav will be atleast 60k. BMW pricing strategy taken from Porsche's book ;)

As a current M Roadster owner, I was looking forward to this car. I'll be in the market for a new car in 2 years (assuming the current economical crisis doesn't bring us all back to a society of hunter-gatherers) and would most likely be interested in the turbo 6. I have to say I like this version from most angles, but there are a couple of details which absolutely ruin the look... at least in this color.

The side marker light in that weird hollow section is unnecessary and fussy. And I really REALLY don't like the hood seam reaching down to the front wheel-arch. It breaks up the line of the fender and wheel-arch and draws attention away from the hip line running down the length of the car. Maybe a dark color would mask this, but in this beige color it's a deal breaker.

It remind me of the new Dodge Viper from the rear and size. Look like a shrink up Dodge Viper, nice try BMW, but it still "Butt Ugly" I take the Saturn Sky over this anyday.

Nothing special here, still the same butt ugly car like the one it will soon replace. Next....!

It looks a lot better! I didn't like the last one very much.... I wish BMW would have used the Z3 lines for the Z4. I think the Z3 was one of the best looking BMWs (M1 being the best IMO)

I am far from a BMW fanboy but this is surprisingly nice for a Z4. I don't like hardtops either but I like the look of this one. The only thing I think they should change is the name. The Z4 sDrive 35i is a bit long. Overall I say its kinda studly!!!

Definitely a more "manly" looking Z4 and a great looking car! I like the 6-series style tail.

Nice job on the roof as well
