Why doesn't the five series look this cool? Our favorite car design at the show-Part 2

Why doesn't the 5 series look this cool? Could it be because the BMW 5 series truly *IS* an ugly car, and not that people just *say* it is an ugly car?

As much as I don't care for this 1990s version of "The Future", the example above is clearly better styled than BMW's lot.

BTW, take a trip in the Way Back machine to the 1950s and 1960s, and recall the "futuristic" styling exercises of the time. Looking back, we can count our blessings that most of them were not put into production. The true classics of the time employed clasic styling of the era. A few decades from now, perhaps less, people will be looking at the origami cars of the turn of the 21st century and wonder "what were they thinking?"
