Wow, check out this new tech that GM's got, direct injection! Now that's a leap forward.........

Why are GM always so far behind everyone else in technology? Japanese (and European?) manufacturers were doing direct injection in the 90's!

Your right I mean look at how many models Toyota has with direct injection...oh wait only the Lexus models have DI now. You may mention the upcoming 2.7 I4 for the Highlander but it isn't out yet. DI isn't a common technology in volume vehicles right now in the US (Europe yes, US no). Especially in lower end or smaller models.

1UAW Japan does not need cylinder deactivation to gain 3 or so mpg as they are using I4 engines in the first place.

Veyron, you build me a Silverado sized truck with a little 4 cylinder that gets the job done and good fuel economy.

Oh by the way, Im sure you know this (you seem to know everything) but if the Japanese didn't need cylinder DeAc, why does the new accord V6 Sedan have it? Oh yea, b/c they need the economy boost.

Well if you look worldwide many GM engines are available with DI technology, in fact most GM European engines are equipped in such a manner.
